I'd like to share this review by a certain raydim, he completely nailed it!

Great to know that there are many clear headed consumers that are not confused by ripoffreport's Ed Magedson who himself is ripoff con man. It is true that he is internet savvy and that explains how he makes money by his internet show of questionable "public service" harassing companies who gets negative publicity on his "unwanted list". Online shopping is definitely the in thing and I have been using this almost a year now and never had experienced any problems nor irregularities. The charges that Ed Magedson exaggeratedly claim as 'fraud' are discussed over the phone by their reps so that shouldn't be an issue unless you are stupid you don't get what the reps said while selling their credit access product. I am satisfied with Common Wealth Gold, hope they will stay for good, despite the crisis.

The company has been posting false positive reviews about their products all over the internet to try to trick customers and hide complaints when you do searches. A lot of what is written is taken directly from the advertisements they send in spams. This company is very shady. Here is what i have found out about them:

First off, if you look at the second page of the sites they opt you into 2 other monthly fees that are never mentioned in the Terms. They put this information way under the submit button so most people will never scroll down to ever see it. This is borderline illegal and I'm sure at some point the FTC will be knocking on their door. You think you are paying $2.78 and then you find out they are charging you over $70 a month for 3 different things. When you call to cancel they might cancel and refund 2 of the 3, maybe all 3 if you are lucky. I did not receive a full refund. This is how they make their money. They will also try to talk you into staying with their program because it will help your credit. This is a SCAM and a total LIE. They DO NOT report to the top 3 credit reporting agencies so it WILL NOT help your credit. If they told you on the phone that it will, then they are lying to you. If they told you this you should complain to the FTC. If they do not give you a full refund you should complain to the FTC or the BBB.

I've done alot of research on these guys because I spent hours on the phone, had to deal with my credit card company when I went over the limit and was charged extra fees, and they still didn't refund my money after it is obvious their site is a total lie. They offer you "Credit" but charge you twice as much for the product, you pay up-front the full price, and then finance the rest. Why would people do this? Well, they don't realize when they sign up for the site. Even if you cancel they still get your money for the ID Watchdog and the Vcomm voicemail they charge you for. No matter what they make money while tricking you into believing that you are getting credit. Then they will tell you it will help your credit, but it WILL NOT help your credit score.

To show you how tricky they are, they recently changed the name of their company. On May 30, 2008 they bought the vantexgroup.com (Vantex Group) and that is their current marketing site. This is how they pay their "affiliates" which are really spammers and website owners that direct traffic to their misleading products. Well, before May 30th, they were know as Vertek Group (vertekgroup.com goes to vantexgroup.com). They changed names to try to hide from all the people they ripped off. They also changed their domains. They used to all use the domain awarecart.com, but now they all have new domains. And why would you need so many different sites if you are trying to build a good brand of credit. It is to hide who they are so the complaints don't pile up. Eventually the FTC, BBB, or FBI will figure out the tactics these scam artists are using. They really messed with the wrong person. When I feel like I have been taken advantage of, I make sure let everyone know. Not to mention I am very internet savy so it really didn't take me too long to figure all of this out. I have also made my complaints to the BBB and FTC. I encourage everyone else to also do so.

I have no problems with First National Gold. I recently purchased an ILO 3200 32 widescreen LCD HDTV Monitor w/ HDMI for only $799.99 which is regularly priced at $999.99 in retail stores. I only paid $280 for the mandatory 35% down payment. The LCD HDTV was delivered on time and in good condition.

What company name are they today? They just keep changing names to keep the heat off. They are NOT registered with the BBB, not a good sign. A class action lawsuit, soon to be filed. Yes Matt, thats right, I said class action lawsuit.

Some helpful info from someone who knows:

So, lets see, the customer starts by thinking they are getting a great offer, line of credit to shop ect, then once they go to the site to buy they are presented with HIGH downpayments on almost every item.

Here is the breakdown:
*Approved for $7500 line of credit

*You pay $39.95 a MONTH to have this line of credit

*PLUS you pay anywhere from 10%-90% down on the items out of your pocket, and then the small measley balance left is "financed" with the line of credit.

*Pricing- about 30-50% more expensive than what the products are worth

*Lets not forget the big screen TV they have, think you can get it with your line of credit? Nope, it is 100% down , out of your pocket. Yes kids, thats right. If you have to pay for it all yourself why not take the money to a REAL store and pay less for it WITH a warranty.

* Oh ya, hahaha, you HAVE to sign up to even see the products available to purchase. You are charged $2.78 for this, non refundable. Well, they call it a processing fee. I think not.

* Some customers might think they are wonderful cause they refunded their current charge no questions asked when they called to cancel, well, a hint about that: Will you go to the BBB or attorney general if your money is refunded? No. Most likely not. SO, exactly. They know this.

****A WORD TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE WHO DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS CLOSELY EVERY MONTH: DO IT! My inside source takes calls EVERY DAY from MULTIPLE customers that have been billed by these jokers for months and months and when a customer calls to cancel and find out how and why they have been billed, they are told all they will be refunded is the current charge. This is normal, no company will reward you for not looking at your statement regardless of how it came about that you were billed, so just keep a close eye on those statements!

Ok, so far a deal? again, I think not....

Now, you are not happy so you call to cancel. Reps are FORCED to offer "saves" to keep you from cancelling. Lets see $200 in NON EXISTANT restaraunt coupons along with a few other complete fabrications.

Another thing they will tell you is that they report to the credit bureau. NOT. That is a lie, well I am sure they report to someone, but it is NOT one of the 3 credit bureaus that matter. Trust me. They will make it sound as though they do , but they dont.

The call center company employed by First National Gold, Global Gold, First Plus Platinum, ect ect, should be ashamed, taking on a client like this. Wow, they must really need clients to keep their call center in business, That is sad.

That is right, I said First National Gold and like 5 other names. They are ALL the same company folks.

Oh ya, and Mr Joseph Thompson and Miss Mary Evans- no doubt are fake names and are employees of Global Gold, cuz I have an inside contact and guess what, they are not even in this companies system as customers like they presented themselves to be. Yet, another attempt at scamming, they think they are professionals at this, but there is always going to be someone that is one step ahead my friends. ;o)

I am also a member First National Gold and in my one and a half years of shopping there, I haven't experienced any glitches. I agree with Mr. Josephthompson, the one who filed the report against First National Gold must submit a more elaborate detail of his complaint as well as an update to what had happened to his grievances as this would be a great help to consumers, including myself. But for now, I'm happy with my transactions with first national gold and couldn't ask for anything more.

I have been a member of First National Gold (www.firstnationalgold.com) for seven months now and I haven't encountered any problems similar to what was reported. Can you be more specific on the unauthorized charges you were talking about? I have been transacting business with this company for several times already and i haven't experienced any irregularities with them, in fact i am very pleased with their products and services! I am just concerned because I consider First National Gold as one of the better online shopping sites around. I hope that this issue will be settled as soon as possible.
