ILX Premiere Vacation Collection/Diamond Resorts International The Biggest Monkey On My Back Las Vegas, Nevada

My saga of deceit started in April of 2003. My 50th birthday being celebrated for 3 days in Sedona and 4 days in Scottsdale, AZ...first time visit.  First reservation at The Los Abrigados "Lodge", Sedona...checked in...we were told our room number...but in order to get the key to the room we had to speak to the "very young" lady sitting at the fancy little desk. Immediately the pressure started! To get the room key...we had to commit to an appointment time to go to Los Abrigados "Resort and Spa"...with the intention of seeing this spectacular property...so we may help them "get the word out" about the property. OH...and they will give us $200.00. RED FLAG!!!

The appointment time was set for our 2nd day in Sedona...as the 1st day we already had committed  reservations not allowing time. That 1st day was soooo blissful and awe inspiring...we were enveloped in the mysticism of Sedona. The 2nd morning...under the spell of Sedona...our appt. at the resort and spa. We were asssigned to Dennis...his first day working with ILX Resorts. The first words out of my mouth were..."I'm not signing a thing...I'm not buying a thing!!!" Well...6 hours into our appt. we were signing papers. I looked at Dennis and said..."Are you happy with yourself!!!!" I was furious with myself for letting this happen. I was so drained, nauseous, splitting headache...I felt like I had just gone through an interrogation. How did I get duped!!! The mysticism became sorcery!!!

Our maintenance fee started at $420.00. We were NOT TOLD we also had to have an annual membership with Interval Internation...to bank unused weeks. Interval is another story in it's self.

Six days after purchace...back home in IN...back to reality...sickened with buyers remorse...I called ILX to cancel the whole deceptive contract. Well...I was told I was 1 day too late...I needed to have canceled by the day before. Sought legal advice...nada. Tried to sell...nada. Tried to get family and friends to use it...nada. Tried to give it away...got laughed at!!!

First use of timeshare...1 1/2 years later...in Vegas...husband's 50th birthday...A DUMP DUMP DUMP with a capital DUMP!!! My husband...Semi-driver...said he'd stayed at out of the way motels with Semi parking that were nicer.

Fast forward...8 years later. I've paid maintenance fees that increase by at least $100.00 a year and we have NOT used the timeshare since Vegas. Aging parents (now just father) in Florida takes most of my vacation time. No timeshare anywhere near my parents. I've been paying for a vacation I could not use for 8 years. "THE BIGGEST MONKEY ON MY BACK!!" All the while ILX files bankruptcy and Diamond Resorts changes everything. I know I opted out of what ever it was they were trying to get me to opt into.

Due Jan. 1, 2012...now the maintenance fee is $9??.00. "Gotta use the place." April 2012 Los Abrigados Resort and Spa...59th Birthday...11th Wedding Anniversary. The resort started calling me... at home...2 weeks before we were due there...to set up an appointment for us...as owners...to go over all the new criteria...and answer any questions me might have...now that it is a "DIAMOND" resort. At least 3 different calls from 3 different people. Every time I flatly refused.

We've arrived at Los Abrigados...tried to checked-in...computers down...we were told to talk with the lady across the way. Guess what...she wanted us to set up an appt. for an owners meeting. Gave me a list of the most asked questions...to be answered at this meeting. I looked over the questions and said to her...My question is NOT on here. My question is... I want out of this thing and I want out now...and how are you going to help? She said go to the meeting and see what they say...maybe it's possible.

I could not believe what I walked into...the room was sooo shabby, very outdated. I wouldn't even walk on the bedroom carpet barefoot...this list goes on. So disgusted I decided to go to this meeting...which was yet another sales pitch. Trying to get us to buy points into Diamond Resorts...allowing us more properties to choose from...for a mere $30,000.00. I flipped out!!! Get me a manager and get me out of this thing all together!!!! Manager comes over...I spew 9 years of disgust about the hustler type trickery used to nab a sale. You would have thought they would have hustled me out of there...because I was in ear shot of several other hustling sales people trying to nab a sale.

NOPE...he offers to drop the price to $12,000.00...if we don't stay at Los Abrigados for 4 years. The price came down to $7,000.00...4 different people came to the scene trying to sweeten the deal. It was almost becoming amusing...the tactics they were using to try and break us!!! But you know what...they were willing to give us a whopping $75.00 for our time...over 3 hours...but we had to walk 2 buildings away to get it.

Present day...Jan. 10, 2013. Maintenance fee I paid for this year...$1,025.70. Going to Santa Fe, NM for 60th birthday and 12th wedding anniversary in April. The whole trip is going to cost me  $1,025.70 MORE than it actually costs...because I've had to pay this maintenance fee...and there is NO timeshare I can stay at...in Santa Fe. So I am paying for other accommodations.

ANYONE WANT A TIMESHARE...I'LL GIVE IT TO YOU!!!! IT MAKES ME CRAZY TO THINK THERE IS NO WAY OUT OF THIS! They just raise the fees to their liking...and I have to pay until I'm DEAD?!
