If you are a single woman, who lives alone, moving to Indian Lakes will be a nightmare for you. There have been two burglaries in this apartment complex and one other Edward Rose apartment that I know of. All were single women living alone. It's suspicious, and the management never told other residents about the burglaries.

When a maintenance man came over for a problem in my bathroom, he took photos of my television set and kitchen appliances with his phone. I asked him why, and he said it was because he could not find a problem in my bathroom. I have lived here three and a half months. My toilet has flooded my bathroom twice for no apparent reason and clogged about a dozen times. I hardly flush anything down it. I came home to find fecal matter and toilet tissue in my bathtub, pools of water under the sink and a dirty toilet. It smelled. I cleaned up what I could and called the leasing office to tell them what happened.

The leasing office  said someone was going to come over to clean up the mess. When Thomas, the maintenance man came over, he didn't have any cleaning supplies, said he didn't see anything wrong and yelled at me that he was not going to clean my toilet. Exhausted, I started to cry. He then made comments about my ethnicity on the phone to someone after he had taken the photos.

The leasing office insisted I talk on the phone with the manager of the Indian Lakes, Ed Beachnau, because they said they didn't know what to do. Ed is extremely abusive on the phone and has poor people skills. Whatever the situation is, he will inflame it by nature of his personality and lack of empathy. I've had the unfortunate experience of speaking with him twice on the phone. Each time, I've have to bend over backwards to make sure he felt respected. Otherwise, he will lose his temper and hang up on me.

I listened to Ed vent to Thomas on the phone that he had to deal with me, because he didn't appreciate being called about a flooded bathroom. I listened to Thomas complain about me being a "hysterical woman," because I started to cry. Thomas also made remarks about my long hair, because he found some of it in the bathtub?!

Without asking me a single question, Ed accused me of yelling at Thomas when he came over, told ME I was abusive on the phone and even claimed *I* was yelling at HIM on the phone when my voice was perfectly calm--I even offered to buy theme cleaning supplies from Walmart, because the leasing office said they didn't have any. I shouldn't have had to do that. Ed was, as usual, rude and insulting--screaming, "You're assuming you are 100% not at fault!" "I'm not going to talk to you!"

I really think Ed Beachnau has serious problems.  The only time he acted professional is when I turned the on the video camera on my cell phone. All of a sudden, he was helpful and professional as can be. If you are a single woman and you live here, always have a video camera with you. It's your protection. Expect to be disrespected and characterized as a problem tenant. Just accept it. It's not you. They will barely be civil to you and will treat you as though it's a privilege for them to even speak with you (almost as though you were living here rent-free and expecting special treatment or something.)

You will spend what time you have off from work dealing with bad attitudes frequently. I try to avoid it, but when your bathroom floods with other people's crap, sometimes it's unavoidable. Also: invest in a shovel. They don't plow the parking lots here, so you'll need it to dig yourself out when you get stuck in five inches of snow. (And the shovel might help you if your bathroom floods like mine did.)

Given the burglaries, I find it very disturbing that Thomas was taking photographs of my belongings when he was supposed to be fixing the bathroom. Don't live here if you can avoid it, but if you do, be careful. I personally don't feel safe here.
