We (my husband, daughter and I) were approached at the Roosevelt Field Mall by one of the agents from Industry Modeling & Talent Studio claiming that our daughter, would have great potential in the modeling/acting business. We made an appointment for 11/26/05 and signed up with their services after much convincing that if we don't sign up our daughter, we would miss the opportunity of her being a star.

We paid $850.00 for pictures that included 3 poses. We were also told that if we wanted the negatives back, it would be an additional $37.00 plus tax. They never said anything about additional money that we would have to put out. They gave us the impression that was the only payment involved to get our daughter some exposure to the modeling/acting career. We don't know anything about that business. We just go along with whatever they tell us.

We made the next appointment for 12/17/05 to view the slides. After reviewing the slides with Christina Smith, we were brought to the Lisa Payne's (Marketing Director) office in which she offered to us their option packages.

I mentioned to Lisa Payne that we were never initially told that there was going to be more money involved. Lisa Payne apologized and said well, if you want your daughter to get exposure you would have to choose from one of the following packages. At that point in time we had already paid $850.00 for the pictures, if we chose not to buy one of their packages, then we would lose our $850.00.

After much convincing again (they don't give you a chance to even think about it, but just pressure you, saying this is a one time deal), my husband and I agreed to purchase their $1,200.00 package which included 2 years of service on their marketing database in which modeling and acting companies can have access to. All together we paid $2,090.00. That's a lot of money. Someone people don't even make that much money a month. They should be ashamed of themselves for scamming hardworking parents like us who strive to provide a good life for our kid.

We were then told that in 4-6 weeks, we would have the composite cards available. Almost 3 months later and after calling multiple times and leaving many messages, I finally speak to someone. I actually had to say that I was going to contact the Attorney General's office if I didn't speak to someone that day. According to them, they said that they have sent me that information. They flat out just lied.

I never got that information and if I did, why would I call them many times to try and get it. It's been 5 months now since we signed up with them and to-date we have NOT received one phone call from them even for a go-see job. Clearly they are NOT doing their jobs. I'm convinced they are a scam just like Kids.com aka Justourkids.com. I also signed up with them. Being a first time parent and eager to try to get some jobs for my daughter so that the money can be put into her college fund, this is where I am now. If I had know that this website existed before and did my research, I would NOT have been suckered into believing these scam artists.

We need to bring this company to justice for tricking us and our kids into believing that they will get our kids modeling jobs. Please get together so we can file a complaint against them.

I am very glad that websites like this one exist. It helps so much to hear about a company's practices before doing any business with them.

We were also approached in the mall by the "scouts" looking for suckers who'd like their kid to be the next star. And who are we kidding, everybody thinks that their child is the cutest so parents are easy victims. I asked the "scout" what was the enrollment or membership fee and she said that they don't charge us anything (can you believe the nerve?), that they only gather the talent. I thought, oh well that's different, I guess they receive their commission from the company hiring the model. So we gave them our number.

They called today. Omg. They should really choose better their phone people. The entire call the person sounded like she was asleep or high or doing crossword puzzles when talking to me. She tried to have us make an appointment this Friday or Saturday. I said I couldn't do it this week and instead of scheduling for next week, she said she'd call next week (moron?). I asked her where the agency was, she said Edgewater.

So after the call, I'm checking how far is Edgewater on mapquest and they have a box to search for nearby businesses. I didn't know the name of the agency so i just typed "modeling" and came up with Nijah. So I googled the name and found this website: www.easybackgroundcheck.com/nijah.html where lots of people complained about how they were stripped of thousands of dollars for the photo shoots and didn't even get any results.

Am I glad I googled them!!! I am definitely not going there. Even if I went there they wouldn't squeeze a dime out of me as I'm broke but at least it will save me the hassle of going there and getting my hopes up and having to deal with them.

Thank you ripoffreport, other websites like this one and people who contribute to them. I just wish that nobody else falls for their trap anymore and that they are finally brought to justice.
