I recently was visited by 2 college students.  They were going door to door in my neightborhood selling a special for Insight Pest Inspration.  As it was presented to me, there was a initial charge of $49.99.  Then someone would come out quarterly for follow up services.  I said ok because I liked the guy and wanted to help him out; however, I told him I could not start service until the end of the month.  Im a teacher and donot get paid over the summer.  He said ok, we went through the sign up process and I sent him on his merry way.

The next day, someone from the company shows up to do the pest inspection.  I told him that he was not to show up until the beginning of the next month.  He looked at his schedule, but I told him again that he was not to show up until July 31st.  Eventually, he left.  Someone did come on July 31st.  I thought the saga was over.

Then someone comes on August 30th.  I said hey wait, I'm not supposed to be charged for 90 days.  How are you here 30 days later.  They said that's the program.  I said that's not how it was explained to me.  They came they charged me.  So I called and cancelled; however, they say I cant talk to this person to cancel.  I had to call someone else to cancel.  I did so and left a message.  He also left a message for me.  We went back and forth.

Today, I finally spoke with a representative.  She tells me, well if you cancel, there's a fee.  I saw what fee.  She even says, he probably didnt tell you about it.  But since you signed the agreement, you have to pay it.  I said I will not pay it.  Your company has falsely represented it services from the beginning.  You came on the wrong date.  You came before 90 days and now you telling me you want me to pay a fee.  She said I never contacted them.  I said it's obvious I contacted you because you're contacting me about my cancellation request.  We go back and forth.  I said this is a bait and switch.  This is horrible customer service.

She made another, we will bill you threat and I said I'll fight it with my bank until the end, cancel my service.  I immediately got on the phone with my bank and cancelled the card they used for billing.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Very True

The entire review looks real to me. It's exactly the problems that went on in a day to day basis. Customers complained about exactly these items. Stay away from this place. They are rip off artists with poor management and lousy work ethics. You are being sold a bill of goods. I was embarrassed to work there

#2 Consumer Comment

My experience with Insight Pest Solutions were much the same!

AUTHOR: Concerned Consumer - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, November 14, 2015

Two college students came to my home offering Pest Control Service. Being one that is interested in helping young people in starting a career, I naturally wanted to help the young man with a sale, even though pest control is something I had been and continue to do myself. I explained this to the young man and explained that I would give it a try and see how it goes; with the understanding from him that I could cancel the service at anytime. Unfortunatley, misrepresentation of the cancellation policy and the quality of service were downright fraudulent. The pest control treatment was not sufficient to control the pest infestation I had in the least. The treatment consited ONLY of some powder, from a syringe, sprayed inside the wall behind pipe wall openings under sinks and the sporadically dusting of an “invisible” residue on the outside surface of the home with a foam brush. The primary area of concern - spiders in the storage area under my back deck, which I specifically asked be treated, was not treated at all. This I had to do myself. Curious and concerned about the "invisible spot" dusting of the home's exterior, I asked the young man "what prevents rain from washing the residue from the surface;" he said: “I don’t know about that, it’s something we leave to the lab technicians.”

After realizing that I had just been deceived about the quality of service, I immediately called the company to cancel the service. After some runaround from the company calls made and realizing the company had my credit card number - from the payment I made for the first treatment, I contacted my bank and cancled my card to avoid fradulent/unapproved charges. Then I received from the company a bill for a “so-called” “Promotion Discount Fee” (i.e., service cancellation fee) in the amount of $131.00. Something in the sales pitch that was not included when specigfically asked - a direct violation of "full disclosure" in sales practices. There was no mention by the salesman of a “Promotional Discount Fee,” nor a charge of any kind when asked specifically about the company's cancellation policy. It was completely and obviously intentionally avoided. Moreover, there was no “written agreement” provided in the sales presentation – only an IPAD to sign for the “first treatment.” The salesman said I would receive a copy of the full agreement via email (which I've not received to this day) and that I only needed to sign approval to perform the 1st treatment at the time of our meeting. It was at this point, I asked about the company's cancellation policy. I specifically asked the salesman about canceling the service at any time and he replied “you can cancel anytime with no problem, simply call our office.”  In hindsight, I should have not been so trusting in signing the IPAD for the first treatment. However, I wanted to help this young "college student" (as he presented himself) and trustingly took him at his word (something in my up-bring was more viable and respected than even a signed document).

Fake Review

Dear supposed consumer,

Your use of the phrase "the saga continues" I've only ever seen one other place: a review of Insight Pest Solutions in Ohio! Please provide proof that you are not just a competitor of insight trying to make them look bad. Let's say you can validate that you are indeed an Insight customer. You claim you were mislead but you said the sales rep told you there was an initial fee of $49 then quarterly services starting a month later the regular quarterly services would comense....common sense. Did you think they were free?!  Ok sure the tech showed up the next day you told him to reschedule for a month out and he did big deal. Honestly you hurt Insight by doing this because the whole point of the sales rep knocking on ypur door was to group customers together on the same schedule which I'm sure he explained. You got a great deal on an excellent service and then got buyers remorse. Also, who signs a contract and doesn't think there's a cancellation fee? you should have read the contract. furthermore, insight's cancellation policy is the difference of our normal initial rate and what you actually paid because they literslly lose money on a house if they don't finish the first year term.  Your cell phone contract has a huge cancellation fee. Common sense.

The other thing that bugs me is the fact that you seriously couldn't afford $49 for a full indoor outdoor initial service? I doubt that very much. Even being a teacher. I'm a door to door salesman and I could afford pest control from Insight. I'm sorry but this review seems fraudulent and should be taken down.
