insurancequotes.com, netquote.com, bankrate.com Misleading and Dishonest about insurance leads Internet

This company purports to provide leads to insurance agents.  Tried the service for a little over a month.  All the leads they sent were bad.

I e-mailed and asked how they qualified the leads, but got no response.  During the account cancellation call, asked about my inquiry, they didn't know anything about it.  Apparently, the e-mail address they give you to communicate with them is ignored.

So, during the account cancellation call, I asked again about how they qualified their leads.  It turns out that they do not qualify the leads at all.  They have agreements to collect information from what they call "third party websites."  They simply take the information from there and pass them off as leads. 

At no time do they attempt to make sure the information gleaned is correct.  They simply pass it along to you, the agent and call it a "lead."  If the information is incorrect or the people never wanted insurance in the first place, you are simply screwed.  They will use any justification to not credit you back for these bad "leads."

I read many consumer complaints on the Better Business Bureau website about them; there are well over 100.  They were - surprise, surprise - complaints from consumers who said they were bombarded with e-mails and phone calls from agents.  They wanted their information removed.  Many didn't know they had agreed to have their information given to agents.

So, whomever these "third party websites" they are doing business with are, they appear to be deceiving people into entering their contact information under some pretense other than having an agent call them.

Dishonest to the consumer on one end, and dishonest to the agents on the other end.  THe only difference is that the agents have paid for these supposed "leads."  The consumer gets an unwanted/unsolicted phone call or e-mail from agents who have been told they requested insurance quotes.  The agent gets a bogus lead that they have paid for,

They are supposed to credit back the bad leads, but reject a majority of requests.

The bottom line is this - you may as well get your leads the old fashioned way:  cold calling, networking, and sending out your own mailers.  InsuranceQuotes.com is simpy a ripoff misleading consumers on one end and insurance agents on the other.
