I received a phone call from a guy that said he was from AT&T.  He was telling me that we were going to save $18 a month on our long distance by giving us a new plan.  I thought great!  He said he could tell we didn't use very much long distance.  I asked why AT&T would do this and he said because of the cell phone use - a lot of people are switching just to cell phones and not using long distance - to stay in competition.  Made since to me.

He quickly told me that we were going to have to verify some information to process this through and would switch me over to another person.  The conversation would be recorded.  He also told me the people that I would be switched over to talk with were not very bright.  Thought that was strange that he was telling me this.  (Thinking back, I now know they were trying to fake an accent - also that person was very heard to hear)

They didn't ask for any information they didn't already have.  Thank the Lord.  I just had to answer yes or no.  What made me question this in the end was the fact they said our long distance would now be ISI.  I thought that was strange.  AT&T is a long distance company, right?

So after hanging up and thinking, "What did I just do?"  I googled ISI long distance and the first thing I saw was, "SCAM".  I then called AT&T and told them this story and asked if it was true.  They said "NO"  I had just been scammed.  The very kind AT&T employee said he would take care of it and switch me back to AT&T when ISI went through.  I asked if I should call them back to undo what I had just done and he said it would only be a waste of my time.  They would tell me it couldn't be done, it already went through.

I found out we were paying $3.99 a month  for long distance and ISI was now going to charge us $6.99 a month.  Beware of ISI - the person representing their company lied to me - misrepresenting AT&T.  There must be something done to stop stuff like this from happening.  I also should have been more aware of what was going on.  Couldn't believe I was that naive.  Oh well, hope this keeps this from happening to someone else.
