In January of 2007, I signed onto a year-long membership with Intelliflix. I was lured by their having a lower charge than Netflix, along with their claims of 1-3 day delivery of DVDs, and more distribution centers across the country than any other DVD rental company.

With claims such as these, along with a rate that is lower than the equivalent plan at Netflix,... plus testimonials from WNBC News (New York) and none other than Howard Stern, I placed a bet on the Intelliflix 3-DVD-at-a-time annual membership. And lost.

I stuck with them for three months before requesting cancellation of membership and refund of the unused portion of my annual charge. In that three months, I received a total of nine DVD's, of which six were playable (not scratched or outright broken). One playable disc every two weeks? I requested a refund, and I CC'd my request to the Better Business Bureau of West Palm Beach.

And that's where the real fun began. Intelliflix responded via e-mail, stating that they would initiate a refund once they received the four (?) discs that I had in my possession. This, despite my hard-copy proof of having only THREE discs in my possession, returned by me via USPS Delivery Confirmation Service. I received other e-mails from Intelliflix distribution centers denying that they had received my returned media.

The last e-mail I received from Intelliflix as of today was sent to me on April 28, over two months ago, and it stated that they would check with their distribution center (SIC, should be plural) to confirm receipt of the titles I shipped back. I have yet to hear from them.

That's just the hard data of my experience with Intelliflix. In addition to their inability to send me discs that are in barely good condition, their queuing system reminds me of the analogy of throwing feces at a wall, in that if you put 35 movies on their queue list, there may be five of those that are in stock and ready to ship. Throw enough movies at them, and some of them will stick... I mean, SHIP. To the credit of Intelliflix, they do get their "mature" titles out pronto.

All who have had problems with this company should take a minute to file a report on the website of the Florida Attorney General (Economic Crimes Division), as others have done (approximately 40, at the time that they had opened their civil investigation against Intelliflix, Inc.).

I would no longer give anyone associated with Intelliflix the time of day, much less let them keep my credit card number. This I had changed, in light of reports from other disaffected customers who claimed that Intelliflix had wrongfully inflicted bogus charges on their accounts. Check this site or any other DVD review site, and you will see the accounts for yourself.
