As a retiree living in Mexico I use the internet for many shopping items. I had bought boats from online sites before this expirience. This purchase was done in good faith, however turned out to be a scam. The Nautica 19 ft. boat arrived in very bad condition, compared to what the seller had represented it as. Having paid via wire transfer, to receive the boat, I had little recourse on the purchase, now I see one always should see the item personally before purchasing.Dont trust what you cant see!!

AUTHOR: Iyn Boats - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 08, 2009

Stuart purchased a 2001 Nautica 19 Flush deck model yacht tender from us during the month of May 2009. He found our boat for sale on yacht world.com and called us from his home in Mexico. We informed him that the boat was going under contract that afternoon with an offer from a client in Washington state but we did not have deposit yet. He asked what it would take to buy the boat right then and there. (no survey or sea trial) We put a deal together and I informed him of what had been done to the boat when we took it in on trade. (maintenance, lights, etc) And also explained a few patches that had been done on the inflatable part of the boat. Our yacht world ad had 30 photos that had been taken 2 weeks prior in addition to me sending him more photos and close ups of the vessel directly to his email. He wired us a 30% deposit to hold the boat while it had some custom work done.

Stuart hired a 3rd party company to install a custom sunbrella fold up bimini top on the boat. We have worked with this company before and informed Stuart that they do a real nice job. Once they completed the job...that company took several more photos of the boat and forwarded them to Stuart for his approval.

The boat was scheduled to ship out to Texas for import into Mexico around the 10th of July but at the last minute Stuart was able to make the trip sooner. We shipped the boat to Texas for him where he had flown in to await its arrival. Two days after its arrival I received this email:

6/29/2009 5:52pm
"Jarrett, Just arrived to pick up my natica 19. VERY DIssapointed in the condition of this boat!! Had you told me it was a 3 out of 10, I would have gladly paid more for a better product!! Very sad representation of buying from you on line. I feel I should contact Yacht world, on this transaction via internet. Also, will contact Ft. Lauderdale,BETTER BUSSINESS BEUREAU,sorry you let me down, there could have been many more clients I would have sent your way. I had a boat sent from Paris, Cal. from ,Inland Boats, perfect buy, and representation. Three of my friends bought boats and have them in Mexico. This has been a bum deal!! Stuart."

Less than 24 hours later I received this email:

6/30/2009 1:51pm
"Jarrett, No reply from you indicates you were aware of this boat being misrepresented on your web site. I and my broker at Wachovia have today filed a complaint with, State of Florida Attorney General, Ft. Lauderdale Better Bussines Beureau Complaints Department, and Ripoff reports.com..against International Yacht Network , along with FBI Fraud Investgation Office, complaints were filed with ,Yacht World. Stuart Seaver."

(I was not able to respond as I was on my honeymoon for the entire week. (he knew this in advance as I had informed him in prior email as well as through phone conversations)

7/1/2009
The day after the last email, I received a voice mail from Stuart stating that he needed my help getting the boat trailer across the border into Mexico and that he did not do any of the things that he had stated in the previous emails . He also stated that he was very sorry for the previous emails and really needed me to call him back. (This was untrue as this ripp off report was filed on the 30th of June and the voice mail was left on the 1st of July)

I am sorry that he was disappointed with his purchase but as a professional in the boat industry I am confident my company provided and disclosed as much information about the boat as possible for Stuart to make a competent purchase.

Regards-
