The-internet-yellowpages.com called our business and spoke with an assistant manager telling him that they needed to verify information about an order. Not aware that no order had been placed, as it is not his job to place orders, he answered yes to questions that sounded legitimate such as:
Is your address...
Is your phone number....
What is your position....
What is the correct spelling of your name....
Are you an authorized manager.....

A few months later I received a call about a past due invoice. I was unaware of any invoices that I had that were past due. The caller did not specify which company he was with. I returned the call. The phone was answered by a recording stating that the company was the-internet-yellowpages. I had never heard of them before and figured they must have had the wrong number when calling me.

A few weeks later I received a bill stating that we had a past due balance of 429.99. I did not understand how this could be as I am the only person that does ordering for our small company and I had never ordered this.

I called up the company and explained this to them. The man on the phone played me a recording of the assitant manager verifying all of the information questions stated earlier. I then asked to hear a recording of the actual order being placed. He could not produce that. He just kept saying that it was a legitimate order simply because they had the assistant manager on tape saying that he is an authorized manager.

I informed him that I was familiar with this scam as it has been tried on us before and that we wanted this cancelled immediately. I was told that it could only be cancelled within the first 30 days. Funny how I never received the first bill until after that 30 day period had expired. I informed him that their sales tactics were shady and that we would not be paying them anything.
