I stayed away from TURBO TAX for years but decided to give it a second chance. The reason for the first mistake was they attempted to overcharge me. During the first transaction I was able to cancel the credit card payment. So, I gave them a second chance, what a mistake. Now I see where they obtained the name because they are like a quite storm that will rob you click the button to pay. Here is how the crooks operates.

Upon filing my income taxes I was asked for what system I waited to use. I chose the lesser one for $39.00. During the entire process the system would ask if I wanted to up grade to another level. Each and every time I pressed the no button. After I finish the information the system asked if I wanted the $39.00 to be held from my tax return or make a credit card payment. The first class crooks has the system rigged that it will not allow you to deduct the tax return. Therefore, I chose to use my credit card.

I begin to think so far so good but too good to be true. After I entered my credit card information I received a receipt in the amount of $79.98 that had been deducted from my credit card. Um, goodthing I used a credit card now they will have to fight the bank. I called the 800-446-8848 to discuss the issue and was put on hold for 2.5 hours and no one never responded.  TURBO answering service kept getting lower and lower with no response. It only takes a few clicks to complete your taxes but they say call a number wait. Yep, wait, wait wait while I still your money.

The system will not allow you to make any changes after your credit card information is entered.

Doesn't Really Matter Because You Screwed Up

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

When I tell you screwed up Al, you screwed up.  You do what a lot of people do - you go through the program way too fast, and buzzed by the screens you thought were unimportant.  TT tells you TWICE what the detail of your fees are.  They include the $39 for the use of the program, and the cost for the state filing,  It's that simple.  Your CC company already goes through this with Intuit because people like you are completely unobservant as to what you're doing.  When the challenge is filed, Intuit is going to detail exactly what you did - that you signed for the charge exactly as I indicated, by typing your name and date all along the way.  All of that information is in your own forms BTW!!  Intuit will send that to your CC company, and your challenge will be rejected.  It's all a part of the e-file process.

The bigger question people should ask is why e-file??  If e-filing costs as much or more than the program, then why bother e-filing?  All you have to do is put your routing and account number on each return and the refund will faster than the 4-6 weeks TT says it will.  By putting the return in the mail, you don't have to pay the State filing fee AND you can get both refunds put into your account via Direct Deposit.  The entire return would cost you $39 - period.  Is Block better?  As a former preparer for Block, I would absolutely say no.

Pulling the trigger but loading the gun or taking it on safety

As a ABA paralegal with a graduate degree and ex-law enforcement background I can  comperhend at the lowest level of reading. This is too inclued quick gun rebuttals that only has voids and no meaning. TURBO TAX is the worst rip off! The site ask you for certain filing fees and it gives you want you do not want.

Anyone that filles their taxes know that you only pay for STATE and not FEDERAL. Yes, that is right. TURBO does not reflect the correct charges and they RIP YOU OFF when you enter your credit crad information. You have no way to cancel the transaction. At any given time you call the phony number to spak to someone you will wait for hours and never get a response.

That is because the individual is at home looking at SUNDAY sports. Yes, I make a mistake to return to HELLVILLE instead of H & R Block.

You Will Not Prevail On Your Challenge

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

Just because you chose the lesser cost doesn't mean your only cost is the $39.00.  What you're not taking into consideration is the filing fee for State taxes, which in your state is the difference bewteen the $79.98 and the $39 fee.  Therefore, any challenge to your credit card company is going to be denied when they receive the fee information from Turbo Tax.  This same additional fee would apply whether you used any other tax filing program.  If you're going to blame anyone, you should blame the state for charging taxpayers for filing electronically.

It is very important you ACTUALLY read the fees schedule - it is in black and white and there is a double verification, meaning you agreed to the fee and are you sure you agreed to the fees to be charged.  The fact you quickly went through the steps without reading is your own fault.  I fully expect you will come back and then blame your credit card company when they deny your challenge.  Next time, take the extra time and READ.  Oh, and don't bother calling Intuit once you submit your taxes - once you submit the return, that's pretty much it.

Regardless of which program you use to file your taxes - slow down and read.  It costs you nothing.
