I bought an Iomega Prestige Portable Hard Disk USB Drive last year; attractive price and readily available in the computer store. Bright red and compact, the box stood out from the rest of the brands. I bought the disk drive with a warranty of 3 years upon regristration. People, do NOT purchase any product from Iomega.

The disk drive was spoilt within 3 months of purchase; noise clicks when attached to my computer indicated it was a probable hard disk head crash, the worst kind. During those three months, i did not even move the hard disk; though it was a portable, i used it on my desktop for external space.

When i bought the disk drive, i had registered the product (i have an email from iomega the day after i registered the product, though it was a newsletter email egarding my registration, the actual email of THE PRODUCT registered was not found) I also checked the warranty of the product on their so called award winning website; it stated PRODUCT NOT IN WARRANTY. Also their webpage link to resolve such issues in the case where i have the documents of proof of purchase was down with a 404 error. How convenient is it not?

Another not on the side, where i am in Singapore, it was  such a pain to find the service centre for Iomega, apparently they shifted address and did not even update it on their award winning website. When i did track down through means of googling the current address on some forum, the guy at the counter said he cant do anything becasue i dont have the RMA number.

Come on Iomega, if you want to cheat people out of their money, do it with a flair. With multiple hurdles just to exchange a faulty product where as other companies willl just do it on the spot, i really advise people against their service and products. The last i heard even their service centre is not under Iomega but under another comapnys name. Major disappointment and money burnt.
