I've reported this dealership to the BBB of Windsor, CO. According to another report, I see that they have an unsatisfactory rating. Also, upon Googling this company, the RIPOFF REPORT was one of the top websites listed. I regret that I did not get on-line and check out this company. It is unfortunate that other customers have also encountered the same dishonest, unethical, and deceptive practices that we have. I do not recommend that anyone do business with this dealership.

On December 28, 2008, we were looking at vehicles at Champion of Iron Mountain Autoplex of Windsor, CO. Salesman Matt Boucher approached us and we looked at vehicles and discussed what we were looking for. We also told him that we were going on to Denver to see what they had to offer. He asked what it would take to keep us from leaving the premises and purchase a vehicle from them. I then offered $10,000 for a Blue '05 Jeep Liberty. After visiting with his manager, Matt countered with $11,500 with the promise to not charge for the document fees and that they would pay the taxes on the vehicle.

I agreed with the offer and we paid for the vehicle in full with a check and credit card. Upon later review of our purchase agreement, it was apparent that we were charged for the document fees as well as an Iron Guard Warranty that we were not informed of, nor requested. Several forms were thrust on me to sign, all with minimal or no explanation. In the process I did sign the Iron-Guard warranty registration form as well as the purchase agreement. The listing for these fees were abbreviated at the bottom of the form; to my regret, I did not ask what these abbreviations meant, nor what the charges were, nor did I ask that our agreement in writing.

On February 18, 2008, I called, no one answered, and I left a message to say I would be faxing up a copy of our tax receipt and asked them to reimburse us for the tax amount of $805. Although they charged us for the document fees and an Iron-guard warranty, I realized I had signed the papers agreeing to pay them, so I wrote them off in my mind as a lesson to be learned for next time. However, I find this practice unethical and deceptive.) Champion returned the call and said they did not have to, nor would they pay the taxes, saying that there was nothing in writing.

It is maddening to think that an agreement holds no water with this dealership. We have dealt with other dealerships in CO that have made this same offer and have never reneged on it. The personel involved in the sales and discussions of this issue were Matt Boucher, salesman; Richard Reese, finance manager; and a man named Bob or Doug (last name may be Doug).
