I am staying at The Isle of Capri casino in Lake Charles,  LA. I left my room to go gamble and when I returned to my room $1,000.00 of mine was gone. So I called security and the West Lake PD. I didn't know at the time,  but all the electronic doorlocks are linked to a central computer that logs every keycard and number that enters every room along with the date and time, so when they downloaded the data they saw that a maintenance man entered my room at 3:14pm, 35min after I left to change the a/c filter, plus my room is close to the end of the hall where the security cam is located, anyway the PD said they are filing felony theft charges on the guy, but here is the rip off part.

The casino manager came up to my room and told me that the guy that came in was a sub contractor and if it was a employee of the Isle of Capri they would make it right, but because he's not they have to let their risk management department know about it and thats it. The way I see it is they hired the guy rather they work directly for them or not they are still paying for their service. I know I'm paying for a secure place to stay,  especially at a casino.  Therefore they should be responsible for any thefts that occur in your room, especially with the kind of evidence that there is against this theif. I mean if you can't leave your valuables in the safe in your room then why is it even in there?  I will update this as soon as I find out if they are going to screw me out of my money or not.

Room safe

AUTHOR: Josh - (Afghanistan)

POSTED: Thursday, May 14, 2015

From your description, it sounds like the money was not stored in the room safe.  That means the hotel owes you precisely nothing.  You should know that hotels have maintenance people and maids, and valuables should not be left out in the open.
