While on a short visit to London in September 2007, I was stopped by an Italian calling himself Rosario and driving a BMW, just outside my hotel in Russel Square. He asked if I could speak Italian - which I do - and he said that he had just been to a fashion wear exhibition somewhere in England, that the night before he had lost all his money at a London casino, and that he had no money left to buy petrol to complete his overland trip to Italy. He said that he had two leather jackets left, that they're samples which he doesn't need to take back, that their price in shops would be about 1500. He showed me the jackets - one black three-quarters and one suede waist jacket - with packing and labels all looking very genuine. Anyway he asked for 200 and I told him no way - I only had 50 which I had just cashed from the bank. On seeing that I will never give him more than the 50 he accepted my offer. My first impression, and second and third.. was that I had made a bargain as 50 is not that much even if the jackets were fake. They looked genuine - even smelled genuine. I only realized that I had been ripped-off when I returned to Malta, checked your website and found reports from other people who had been similarly swindled. I even found out that this Alta Moda Italiana rip-off has been going on for quite a while as a friend of mind had a similar experience here in Malta some 2 years ago. I'm not all that concerned because I got off very lightly and I like the suede jacket, genuine or not. But people beware: if the label says Alta Moda Italiana it must be a fake.
