The trouble actually started my second week at ITV when the owner of the company, Donald Barrett, had told me personally he was very interested in getting to know me better. He stated he thought I was beautiful and would like to buy me a couple drinks at the bar down the street. This is when the company was still at the Cummings Center in Beverly, Ma. I had declined. Donald Barrett is also a married man.
I stayed because the money was very very good. It was commision only, but there was only about 30 employees back then and the calls were crazy! Phones were off the hook when the shows ran.
I still put up with the 'sexual' comments and looks from Donald. He even called my direct line quite a few times while he was off on his business trips. At this time he was having an affair with Amy, another married employee as well.
The company moved to Cherry Hill in July of 2006.
ITV had hired more employees and started advertising much more as well. There were times I would work 6 hours and make over $500. I was a Senior Sales Rep and even had my own office.
Then we switched the computer programs and phone systems. The phones were constantly going down. No incomming or outgoing calls. For HOURS. Which meant NO PAY. But we would be repremanded if we left. We were made to stay for the day with no pay, incase the phones started working again.This went on for months.
Kevin Trudeau had come in around October of 2006. Donald had joined with Kevin. Kevin changed our rules, scripts and even our dress code. We were giving his books away over the phone for free, just shipping and handling $19.95. We took the customers creditcard information and charged the cards KNOWING we didnt have the books. Our scripts were bullshit, he even had us lying to customers about his weight!
Customer service was so backed up with complaints! They got rid of the 800# for customer service and customers had to pay for a toll call only to be on hold for eternity. So, customers started calling the sales lines, 800#'s. The informercials died down dramatically and I personally went from making a grand or two a week to $100-200 dollars.
We were forced to upsell year supplys of the colon cleanse (wich was KNOWN to be a poor product). It ALL came back and our commisions were taking away. But if we didnt try to sell a year supply BEFOR a one time supply, we would be fired. We were taught to make false claims using psychological phrases. Just ask Lorraine Day! She cured herself of cancer, right?
I had bought myself into ITV Ventures for the employee discount of $99.00. That was just a bunch of empty promisses for the first year. They promised us FREE leads, never got them. But they made sure to charge me $130 a month.
Donald Barrett had giving me a few FREE customers (IBO's), but they somehow disappeared, and eventually ended up under someone higher than myself.
There were many things seedy about ITV, Donald Barrett, and Kevin Trudeau. Yes, they did treat there employees like s**t. I was lucky, the owner had a crush on me. Yes, we told customers false claims reguarding cancer. Yes, we took customers money and never shipped out their product. Yes, Donald and his buddies would smoke pot, do coke and have sex in the offices. Yes, kevin Trudeau DOES heat his food in a microwave. Yes, Kevin is a scam artist.
I had left the company when they dropped the media form $175,000 in informercials to $900 a day. There was no money in it anymore, and the things they had us doing for no hourly pay were just not right.
Do not work for or purchase anything from Donald OR Kevin.
