The magistrate's office in Jackson County North Carolina is above the law when it comes to small claims court judgements.  The rental laws in the State of North Carolina where a landlord cannot evict someone in 24 hours or retaliate against a tenant for complaining about black mold have been overrided by the magistrates office.  I was ordered to pay the amount of rent due, not for a weekly rate as agreed upon, but a higher daily rate, plus court charges.  As though that  isn't bad enough, they lie and tell you that they will send you a copy of the amount due, but never follow through.  The reason they don't follow through is because they tack on a daily hefty three percent to the total amount due for every day you fail to pay them.  I believe this is called extortion.  So, not only have they broken the law by illegally siding with the plaintiff, they also rob you blind by trying to get their share in as well.  

The town of Sylva, and Jackson County has universities.  I can't imagine how much money they are raking in from the college students who are basically easy prey whether they do something stupid or not, and the unsuspecting parents and people like me that don't have a clue as to what is going on in that backwards piece of rat's dung County.

DO NOT GO to Jackson County, North Carolina unless you want to get suckered like me. In that place you will live in fear of being accused wrongly and made to pay.  Of course, you can play into the spider's web abd try to appeal where they can really nail you to the cross and rake in the bigger bucks.

I can only pray that they will get their fair share of abuse.
