I received a call from an "unknown" phone number. The person identified himself as, Jacob Miller, Director of Publishers Clearing House. He said that I had won $2.5 million and that they would be at my house this afternoon. They also han a bonus prize that I would know what it is when they arrive.

He told me to get a pen and paper to write information that i would need when they arrive. He gave me a "Package Code #5592323". He said that I must be registered with the company and told me to write the Name of the registerd card. He said the name is, "Money Pack Scratch Card".

He asked if I was at work or home. I told him I was at work and he asked what time would I be home. I told him 3:15. He said the Prize Patrol had to go through customs and was already in route, Hopefully they would be able to make it to my house today.

He asked if I still lived at my same residence in Louisiana and I said yes. He said when they arrive that I will need to provide two forms of ID verifying who I am. He said that they would be bringing me a Secured check for $2.5 million dollars, tax free that I can take to the bank.

He asked if I wanted this to be privately done are with the cameras and news people. Being skeptical, knowing this is 2 good 2 be true, I told him that it was up to him. He then said that he would be calling me back after I get home, at 3:25 today and hoped that his crew would be able to make it.

I decided  to check to see if this was a scam or joke someone was playing on me when I found this site with other reports similar to mine. I was never asked for personel info. nor ask for money. I guess I'll have to wait and see when he calls me back.

I do know that the Publisher Clearing House site states that they do not call you to let you know that you have won, nor do they ask for money up front to be able to receive your prize.

PCH Phone Call Scam

AUTHOR: RhondaPacificNW - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 15, 2015

After reading this rip off report it reminded me of a scam I heard about on the news awhile back. Yes sometimes crooks do call and say you've won some sort of prize in order to solicit personal information from you which they can then use to commit identity theft or other acts of fraud, however more common is for crooks to use this tactic to simply see whether or not you are home before making a move to commit some sort of crime against either your property, yourself or another person in your family/social circle. Or sometimes they already know you are away because they or an associate are already in your home or business and to avoid being surprised by you they are keeping you on the phone, distracted with lottery news to make sure you don't walk in on them, catch them, take them by surprise.

If someone calls claiming you have won a prize it’s probably not legitimate. The best response is to hang up and then phone police to check on your family/property. You can always call corporate headquarters of legitimate companies (longstanding businesses with good BBB ratings) to see if you have or have not won any prizes from them. Don’t make the mistake of thinking just because the caller hasn’t asked for any real personal info like bank account or social security numbers, birthdate, pass codes, mother’s maiden name, employer info, net worth/income and so on that the caller is safe. Real professional crooks know they don’t need this info from you anyway because if they can just get into the home or office when you are not there usually your business or personal records will provide most if not all the information about you they might want/need as they rummage through your computer files, hard copy file boxes, cabinets, bill and junk drawers – other personal belongings, hiding and storage places.

Though most of the time calls of this nature are an attempt to try and gauge just how safe/risky a place is to rob sometimes criminals use these types of calls to gauge how safe it is to make a move to harm someone. As much as I wouldn’t like to have a home or business robbed, or have things broken, property vandalized, to become the victim of identity theft or to lose a great deal of money – all of those things can either be replaced or (even though admittedly perhaps a little to a lot uncomfortably) lived without. But the personal safety of me and those I know, love and care about that is my main concern/top priority. It’s because information gleaned from a phone call might be used to commit real and serious danger, grave bodily harm to another human being that I simply don’t give out any information over the ohone that might ultimately help make a criminal’s life any more more merry, job any easier than what they rightfully deserve.
