i am a severely disabled and handicapped author.
i signed with this agent, and stayed with her just 3 months. during that time i only met with her for 30 mins. she reviewed and lightly edited the book proposal. but no book was ever written, the proposal not even finished.
I had to leave her due to deteriotating health and personal issues. when i terminated the contract, after the 3 months, per contract stipulations (i gave 30-day notice and said i would compensate her for her proposal edits). she informed my attorney that in order for me to be released,
I WILL HAVE TO PAY HER $10,000!
charging a disabled author who only has one book to his name $10k is simply shameful and inexcusible for any agent. she has taken advantage of my disability, and victimized me, holding me "hostage" until i pay this ridiculous fee. I reported her to authors guild, AAR, and writer beware, but i might have to take her to court.
STAY AWAY FROM JANIS DONNAUD AT ALL COSTS! SHE WILL SCAM AND RIP YOU OFF IF YOU ARE DISABLED!
