You say that this is unbelievable, and you are right.  It is unbelievable that you are somehow under the impression that you are not bound by the legal lease agreement you signed.

Now, of course you say "Well they said they would work with me".  Okay what does that mean?  Does that mean they are just going to give you an extra day to pay your rent or that you can pay it whenever you want.  Even if that is 6 months later.  Did they put any of this in writing?  Because with a WRITTEN lease the only thing that can legally modify it is another WRITTEN ammendment.  

By the way...based on what you wrote it sounds like in the time that they were "working with you" they fired two managers.  So just how late were you before they filed for eviction?  Anything more than 1 day late could be seen as "working with you".
