Recruiting
I spoke to a recruiter for J.B.Hunt on 12/07/07
I received all the information that made the job tempting over others.
I was told the trucks did 70 MPH for a lease operator
I was told I would be reimbursed for my travel
I was told my cost would be a truck payment plus around $29 a week and also an escrow of $100 a week
I was told that I could run as many miles as I wanted.
I was told I would pay 6 cents a mile for maintenence
When I arrived at Orientation I found out those were all lies.
Cost to me $ 200 dollars I made calls to get my transportation costs back and was offered a $ 75 settlement I refused the settlement at that price.

Orientation
Attending the 4 days gives you $300 dollars and $50 for every day after the orientation gave me $100 dollars and $200 would be given in the future

In orientation you found out you were not hired yet.
and many people went home Broke and sad for there wasted time and money.

on the second day the money begins to unravel and it contains new costs you never new about. but it's still feesable to do this with the costs you know about.

on day 3 you discover your at a truck sales yard and all departments are running seperate from each other ie Recruiting, Mechanic, leasing, Planning, Fleet management, Break Down, Fuel

Equiptment in this yard is limited and you find there is not enough trucks for the new recruits.

I was told there was a truck in Florida abandoned by a driver if I would pick it up and drive it to Louisville I would be paid 34 cents a mile Round trip if the truck was up to my standards it would cost $314 a week this was on 12/11/07

I was given $200 for a cash advance for my fuel in my vehicle to pick up the truck in Florida the same state I live in. ($75 was what they attempted to offerer me for my compensation to orientation)

I drove to Jacksonville Florida where there was no keys and the lock smith was called I received $78 dollars cash advance to pay the lock smith The truck would not start and was bump started by the tow company
I was told to leave the truck running no matter what.

I arrived on Monday 12/14/07
and was asked if I wanted to lease the truck from J.b.Hunt I told them I would wait until after the repairs were made to decide on 12/16/07 I was told I must sign the lease and no matter what all truck repairs would be made and service had to be done.

on 12/14/08 8 items were on my list to be repaired the starting problem, The fuel guage was not registering properly, the right side antanna, the air and heat was only working while driving, a window cover, 2 fault codes, and a speed calibration sensor the truck was only doing 61 and burning to much fuel to be at 61

on 12/14/08 through 12/17/08 0600 the truck was still at the yard and not in the shop I spent these days banking on my $50 day the truck was completed at 1500 12/17/08

My first pay check came in and it was for $200 and something dollars I asked why it was so low and was told it was because of my cash advances I told them that was for transportation to get the truck in there statement I was told my receipts were not correct because they would not reimburse everything but I would be reimbursed properly the following week.

The following week I received $150 for pay this means I was charged for an entire week of insurance etc and was not under a lease but picking up a truck in Jacksonville I was also deprived $176 in fuel from the Jacksonville trip and $100 motel room while I waited for the truck to be repaired.

I again called and was told it would be fixed and I need to keep track of my jobs and information I had bad book keeping according to them.

My first job was to Indiana it had 3 stops I drove through Indiana and was given a load to Orlando Florida I noticed on my way to Orlando several of these items I asked to be fixed were not. I stopped at Louisville and was told I would have to wait in line for repairs it could be several days and I needed to get the load to Orlando first.

I arrived in Orlando 1 hour before the appointment due time only to find out J.B. Hunt screwed up the time and it could not be unloaded until tomorrow.
I put in my detention time and delivered in the AM The detention time was not paid to me and I lost 1 day and had a pre plan waiting for me that afternoon. I still picked up the pre plan the following morning after delivery but not with out a hitch.

J.B.Hunt gave the same job to two drivers and I watched the driver take my load and was told to live load in his place.

I delivered the job in Jacksonville Florida and was told to dead head to Knoxsville Tn, I followed the instructions and arrived in knoxsville Tn and sent in a good ETA and was in direct communication with J.B. Hunt and continued to let them know I was available. I sat in Knoxsville the entire weekend from Friday at noon until Monday I finaly was told they had a computer problem and they placed my ETA for Sunday.

I let J.B. Hunt know that my repairs were not made properly my air and heat did not work, The fuel guage was still broken and other items.

I had 5 driver numbers during orientation of friends I made I called them that weekend and was being told of simular stories Jose told me J.B.hunt was limiting miles to around 2200 a week and he was on his way to return his truck in Louisville.

I called Fleet management to see if this was true and was told it was They wanted to tell me in the middle of winter if I wanted to survive I had to idle my truck and dont eat out but to pack lunches.

I not only wrote on the qualcom but told J.B. Hunt this was a breach of contract and nobody told me miles were limited.

J.B. Hunts fleet team responded on the qualcom with what driver told you the miles were limited to around 2200 a week.

I did not answer because amnimity was in my best intrest, I spoke again to Jose and he told me they were charging him $2000 for turning his truck in.

I knew at this moment I would do my best to do my 90 day walk away rites and settle the matter later.

I was dispatched to Chatanooga TN to deliver a load to West Virginia the delivery date was 01/02/08 this didnt make sence the receiver was open even on New years eve I called J.B. Hunt and told them I would arrive at 2100 on 12/31/07 and was told they would try to reschedule.

I never received a call from J.B.Hunt and called the receiver myself and rescheduled and delivered on 12/31/2008 at 2100

on 01/01/08 the temperature dropped I was not moving and the truck was 27 degrees inside it, I called and was told to buy more blankets and when I said no I was then given permission to get a motel room, I froze and did not take that motel room because I knew it wouldnt be reimbursed like the previous items.

I was also told J.B.Hunt would find me somebody to fix the problem on the truck further down the road on 01/02/08 during my trip to there designated fuel stop I ran out of fuel because of there broken guage and was insulted by break down and was told on qualcom by J.B.Fleet I would have my MOC whatever that means take good care of me. I was charged over $300 for that fuel.

The next job was to Loveland Colorado, I arrived in Knoxsville and called breakdown to tell them I could no longer take the cold, they attempted to blame me and tell me they didnt see any write ups and reluctently told me to take it to freightliner another day lost.
the delivery was late and I believe i was charged for being late. (Freightliner said there was 3 problems with the air a wire, the blower, and a front rear box. thats to many items to have passed inspection in Louisville not counting the fuel guage) I previously told J.B. Hunt on the qualcom these items would cost me and them time and money later but they would not respond.

In Loveland Colorado I was told to pick up a job in Denver going to Modesto California the driver whom dropped the load in Denver put the load in the wrong yard and I lost another day waiting for the yard to open. during the trip I reported on the qualcom I was not getting any miles per gallon on the hills and I was not going to make any money at this rate. no response

when I arrived in Modesto my fuel was not making sence and I contributed it to the uphill driving but because of the bad weather my speed was lower.

My next load was from Stockton Ca to Denver Co I called my fleetmanager and told him all the trouble I was having with J.B.Hunt and I felt I should be Compensated He wanted to know if $50 was good I said no but that covers 1 of my 4 days in the Motel waiting for the truck in Louisville

He told me I was not entitled to 4 days of compensation because I would not be paid for 12/14/07 nor 12/16/07 because I signed my lease that afternoon
and 12/17/07 waiting for the truck. I voiced my opposition and said Id send J.B.Hunt a bill for lost time and wages.

From Stockton to Denver I found the same fuel problems my check was $580 dollars for the previous week they took $1700

In Denver I was given a load that delivered To Kansas and Louisianna J.B.Hunt said this was a split load but it wasn't

Lets first go into the Kansas load when I picked up this load the paper work was lacking I called J.B.Hunt and was told yes everything is correct.

I called all the numbers on the paper work and nobody answered except for a fax machine. I called J.B.Hunt and told them there address was wrong and I needed help. Of course they never did call back. The next morning I was told to find the receiver so I followed the 2nd address on the paper work 30 miles to the South they told me the entire address was wrong even the city and gave the phone number of my receiving contact. When I arrived the receiver told me he could have unloaded me the day before but I didnt call.

I had enough of the lossess and used the qualcomm to speak to J.B.Hunt I told them I would send them an invoice for the miles and time. I received a message that said call me from my fleet manager.

This was a new Fleet manager assigned to me, He objected to everything I said and finaly stated he would give me the 81 miles in return for me to not state on the qualcom my Invoice but ask him to do me a favor. I objected and also explained to him that this job was not a split load but two seperate jobs. The Shipper changed and now the receiver became the shipper two seperate bills to two seperate costomers. I was ignored

Everything I told you so far is small compared to this
Adding up what J.B.Hunt owes me in compensation figures to $6000

The afternoon before I arrived in Louisianna I was told a schedule B service must be made after delivering the load I asked what is a B service?
They stated inspections, Fuel Filters, what ever the truck needs. They told me the vehicle was 2600 miles over it's scheduled services

I said I was under the assumption this was done in Louisville on 12/14/07 and asked why they didnt do that ? I was over talked and the fleet manager began to get rude. I now realized this guy was not talking on the qualcomm because It is documented as court evidence.

I told my (FM)fleet manager that I needed to go to the dentist I had a sore tooth He told me I didn't want to do that because theres paper work and doctor notes needed.

I told him on the qualcom I would not do a B-Service they did not give me the fair amount of time to prepare for the service on 14 hours I was told by my (FM) that he wouldnt give me load unless I did it. I told him I'm not sure if J.B Hunt approves of his behavior and received a message on the Qualcom from the fleet supervisor that it must be done. I told the fleet supervisor I trusted his decisions and would Schedule the B-Service. I was sent empty immedietly to Birmingham AL 540 miles.

My (FM) became a monster on the phone and I told him on the qualcom I had enough of him and stated his past behavior and I had a fair IQ and am qualified at Bus. management I was informed I had made 2600 the week before and I was receiving $0 because I used $2100 in fuel for 2400 miles I said this was impossible

When I arrived for the B-Serv J.B.Hunt mechanics told me I would need a Motel room I called to let the (FM) I needed a cash advance for a room and my car payment at home. He told me I would pay for the room out of my money I asked why; when this service should have been done in Louisville on 12/17/2008 he stated to me you wanted to be a big shot call all the shots you pay for it. thats what you get for doing things your way. I said I'd find out how much the Motel costed, I called back with the amount plus cab and was given a Comcheck; I then asked for the advance for my car payment and was told he wasn't sure if he could do it because I was taking home time in two weeks; If Id concider giving up my home time he would be able to do it.

that means Id be away from home longer than 50 days and I needed to be home for my wifes surgery!

I told him this and he told me to think about it anyway so I wouldnt be in Debt! I asked to speak to his supervisor and he told me they were out, I asked if he could please have them call me and they never did.

I called Lowell AR to complain and was told I needed to contact the VP of leasing whom was in Birmingham revamping J.B.Hunt terminals I left a message was never called back.

I resigned on the qualcom on 01/17/08 before noon
I was contacted by my dispatcher whom said he could help me but I started with J.B.Hunt on 12/10/2007 I told him I didnt have my truck until 12/17/2007 he said sorry your start date is 12/10/2007 orientation that he would send me the money for my car but I need to not think about going home for my home time because Id be in debt.

How does he know Id be in debt in over 2 weeks ?
the answer is obvious.

(FM)sent a load, I Ignored it, I was called by the (FM) to ask me why I didnt accept the load yet, I told him I was on my way to pay my car payment and needed to get fuel. I asked him what the ICC number was because it was a loves truck stop, he transfered me to fuel I was told by fuel; that He blocked them from answering any questions. I called back to dispatch and was told 3 times he stepped out, I was asked if I had spoken to him; I told him I did and I was going to get fuel they said OK! I found the ICC# and did not need to call back got my fuel . I received a call from the (FM) stating he blocked the fuel and I almost got charged with stealing it. He told me I ignored the load and I would be stuck in Birmingham all weekend.

I called my wife and discussed our options I was in extreme pain with my tooth ache and Stressed to the max
Were not sure if Bankruptcy or Foreclosure is best but at least I know Im safe at home until they take it.

I was not going to pay them for my hard work anymore!

I will send them an invoice but I was guarenteed by the (FM) they will never pay it.

In a note every driver whom signed on for the lease program that I have called from my class; Has already left or resigned 5 in all. I referred my best friend to J.B.Hunt so we could make fair money. I stopped him on time

I hope this helps you change your mind

While working as company driver JB Hunt, I had many occasions to pass through Louisville terminal, where orientation for lease purchase is available. I never had any interest in said program, for the benefits are clearly in JB Hunts favor at terrible expense to the participant (victim?). The numbers simply do not add up, JBH and other carriers push the program, great for them, disaster to the lease/operator. I plead with drivers do the math, avoid these programs; hope things are working out for you Anthony.
