In August of 2003, I answered an ad in the Post-Tribune Newspaper (Chicago/NW Indiana based paper) for home mailers making $1.40 for each envelope sealed and stuffed for this company.

I sent in a $25.00 Money Order on August 15, 2003 and mailed it, along with 2 #10 envelops, and 2 stamps to JC Distribution at P.O.Box 5 Winnebago, IL. 61088

About a week later I received back from this JC Distribution another letter with the title "Notice of Acceptance for Home Employment Position". This simply stated that I had received a position with their "company", but now I had to turn around and send anywhere from $1 - $5 for "training and orientation" materials. Stupidly, I did send $5 cash, along with 5 stamps and a SASE.

Within the second letter it did state that if I had not received anything from them within 14 days, that I should WRITE to Training and Aftercare at 1515 North Town East Blvd., St. 138 #446 Mesquite, Texas 75150 to receive these "training supplies". This was the same address that I had to send the $5 too.

On September 8, 2003 my second letter came back to me, never having made it Mesquite, Texas. The Post office had stamped and labeled it "RETURN TO SENDER DUE TO ADDRESSEES VIOLATION OF POSTAL FALSE REPRESENTATION LAW". I called my local post office to ask what that meant exactly, and I was told that the place I was sending it to more than likely had been shut down due mail fraud and I was fortunate to receive my $5 back. I'm still out the innitial $25.00 though, and won't ever see it again.

I feel so stupid for having fallen for such a scam - someone needs to put a stop to these homebased mailing companies and keep them from preying on innocent people out there who just want to stay at home, especially stay at home moms, and make a few extra dollars to help out with daily expenses. I'm so glad that I actually came across this web sight because I was actually considering signing up for another home based company and it's been reported for this same kind of fraudulent work! Thankfully I found all of these reports first!!

I'm glad to hear the Texas branch got shut down; unfortunately, this is nationwide, in nearly every State of the Union. I too got ripped off by these people, only through Alabama.

I was hoping you could fill out an online claim form for the $25 lost, and detailing your experience, so they will know for the record. It will especially help people in our area, if we can keep the Postal Inspectors up to date.

Again, that website is www.usps.com This is the website for the United States Postal Inspectors. They have an online claim form you can fill out cost free.

Thank you, and really I'm glad to hear that at the least the Texas branch is shut down.
