JCPenney West County in Des Peres has some of the worst scores of any Penneys store in the state, and worst turnover rate as well. Now I know why.

I am one of many employees who have been mistreated by the manager Adria, inhumanely. I was so sick one day that I was falling over, and when I asked to go home, she simply said, "No. We need a closer in your area."

In our store, there are many employees whom can take the place of another if one needs to leave for the day. But since Adria (the second in command to the GM) treats us all as if we don't matter and our problems are no matter, why was I so shocked when she denied me health?

We are constantly monitored and criticized every five minutes for the most ridiculous things. We have new rules every week, such as; "You must find and report 2 interesting things you learned about a customer." Then of course, we must also try to sign people up for credit cards. If we do not each get 2 per day, we get written up.

Not to mention the Illegal Activity of forcing employees to stay well past the 2 hour mark of closing time, which is illegal in the state of Missouri. Our store closes at 9 pm and we are scheduled to leave at 11pm, however, they force us to stay late into the night, and if we were to sneak away and clock out at 11pm (our scheduled time to leave) before they give us permission to leave around 11:30pm or later, then we get written up or fired.

Also, several employees ride public transportation busses and must leave at a specific time in order to catch the only night bus. They are told they must find another way home and stay until they are told to leave. Some of these employees live in areas like Jennings and the inner city where very dangerous crime happens around midnight. If those employees don't get home by bus, they have to walk through the possibility of getting shot or worse- all because they had to stay and get the store up to 'standards'.

There are other illegal activities going on, but I feel unsafe reporting them. Please help us! This kind of thing happens every day! I'm not the only one. Several employees have complained of health needs, getting sick because of the mold in the ceiling (which they still havent fixed), unfair wages, and other inhumane policies. Please stop them!
