I started work for J&L at the end of November 2008. I will admit that the 4 hour orentation was every exciting and it all seemed too good to be true. I actually looked up the company after the interview and I found this ripoff report. I was very sceptical. But seeing as how the people making the reports on this site only worked for the company for 9 days or is some instances only had an interview and never even got accepted to work there, I wanted to make up my own mind as to wether or not this company is a scam. So I went to the orentation and everything seemed honest enough. I was toled that If I worked 5 days a week that I would have the opprotunity to deminstrate the kirby equipment to over 70 customers and that even if no body bought anything from me I would recieve a paycheck for $2000. That was very clear. However I was promiced that customers would buy because the manager was the one responsible for selling the equipment and I would make an avarage of $250 everytime the manager sold one for me. Then it got even crayzer because they were going to let us all take a Kirby home for free over the weekend and show it to our family and friends. Not only that but if we showed it to 6 people they were going to pay us $60 on tuseday morning. If we showed 8 people they would pay $100 for 10 it was $150, 12 was $200 and 14 was $250. So I figured that if what they say is true I could make $250 durring my five day training period even before I started the actual job.
This was my chance to find out if this was a scam or not. So I set up 14 shows with my family and friends. But some of them skiped out on me over the weekend and I only ended up showing the Kirby 9 times. and my grandma actualy bought one. -I was so suprized. Never would have thought that would have happeded. When tuseday came around I half expected not to get the $100 for doing the 8th show. But it turns out that they were not lying about that part. I actually got paid $100 that day.
So then I went out on one of the managment crews with a team of 8 other people and a manager. They wanted me to be a door-to-door canvasser because they said I had, "the right look" So after 6 hours of knocking on doors I only booked 1 appointment. the manager sold it and I made $100 worth of commission. I hated knocking on doors some people were rude to me. So I toled my manager that I wanted to be the customer service rep and actualy just be the one to demenstrate the kirby instead of knocking on doors all day. He let me do some demos and by the end of the week I had done 17 demos and we only sold 2. I had no idea how much commission I would make from those sales so I didn't expect much. On monday My paycheck was $567.41 WOW I thought I would get like $100 or something but the reayson for all that money was because my grandma bought that one over my training weekend and I made $567 on just that one sale. So by the next payday I was expecting over $1000 from the two sales i got my first week in the field. My check ended up only being $864 because i made $297 on one of the sales and $467 on the other. The extra $100 was form the appointment That I booked on my first day. So the pay is realy hard to understand but I at least made some money.
I don't work there anymore because the hours were 10 to 12 hours every day five days a week. So I never made the thousands of dollars a week that some of the senior people were making. But I did get paid. and as it turns out everything that they explained was true. The Trainer was a very honest dude eventhough there was a few people in my training class that had a hard time understanding the pay structure. I think that maybe the reayson some people think its a scam is because they werent paying attention durring orentation. Or maybe it's just that the work was too hard for some people like me. I can't handle that much hype and excitment 10 hours a day. Its too fast paced for me. But in my opinion they keept there end of the deal. I was never lied to once or decieved.

If you think they are a scam then you should a least give it 30 days like I did and see if it works for you. It is a good oportuinity if you can work that hard.
If you give it 30 days and it turns out to be a true ripoff then you can make a ripoff report too. And a least you will know that you know what you are talking about. 9 days dosnt seem like enought time. Should't you wate to get your first paycheck? Thats my experence with J&L Distributing.
