There was an advertisement on the radio saying that there was a casting call going on for Disney. There were only 200 spaces available and to call right away. When I called the 800 number, I was told that this was, indeed, a casting call for Disney. They said that there would be two directors there from Disney and only had time to interview 200 people for the roles they were trying to fill. I asked them if this was an agency and if they were going to be expecting money and was told, No. He specifically said that they took NO money from you and that they would only get paid if you were picked for the role. So then we show up and are put in this room where the television was blaring Hannah Montana until this jerk came up and started talking about how only a few people are good enough to make it in this industry and if you were one of the chosen few then you were lucky. He was insulting, in my opinion, and tried to make these kids second guess themselves. They may not be pretty enough or skinny enough or have that special quality that makes them unique. It was disgusting. Then after he rambles on for about an hour and a half, they call you up one at a time and tell you that if you are chosen, you need to pay about $6000.00 UP FRONT to go to their school. I would say that it was the biggest waste of time, but at the very least, it showed my girls that there are snakes out there and you need to make sure you do your research before you start handing out your money to someone who tells you they're going to Make You a Star.

John Robert Powers Worked For Us!

AUTHOR: Angela N. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 16, 2008

This site needs to be taken with a grain of salt because it allows any disgruntled person to post whatever, with no evidence! My and my child's experience with John Robert Powers has been nothing but positive and has resulted in 2 commercials! Yes I had to pay for training and services, imagine that, companies can't give away their services, people and staff cost money, but, the question is, are they providing value for those services? And the answer for us, was yes. That training along with the confidence it provided and, the steering and introduction to the right commercial agency landed my son 2 commercials so far! Check the johnrobertpowers.net success story page, they definitely have students who have made it!

Be Realistic Parents--

AUTHOR: Michelle37 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 15, 2008

I am shocked to see how many of these complaints are on this site. I think there are so many parents with unrealistic expectations! My husband and I signed up our daughter to take modeling and acting classes this summer. Hank was the owner of the John Robert Powers in our area. We felt very comfortable with him and his staff has been very helpful and professional. We also counted on his knowledge and experience to connect us with good people in this business. He has and continues to do this for us. When we signed the contract, it did not give a guarentee of success nor did it promise our daughter would earn money doing so. As parents, when we pay for our children to go to college to gain an education, we hope that they will graduate and get a good job. There are no guarentees with this either. John Robert Powers is a school to help educate and train our kids in this field. I feel that they have done this and done it well. My daughter has learned many valuable skills which will see her well for any job that she will encounter. They have taught her how to handle success and rejections. When we signed her up for this program, I knew that the chances of her being a supermodel were slim, but the character building tools she learned in the process were worth the classes if nothing else were to come of it.
