In February my sister signed a contract agreement for one of Jordan’s properties on Fire Island. We planned on having my bachelorette in June so we rented the house for a week, and my friends made travel arrangements accordingly. Sunday before we were scheduled to arrive, Jordan called us and said there was a leak in the roof, and he wasn’t sure if it would be ready in time, but there was a chance everything would go as planned.

Friday he offered us a reimbursement or gave us the option of two other properties on the island. Neither of these options were acceptable as he was not willing to wire us the money, and the two other properties in no way shape or form compared to the original house we rented. On Friday around noon I informed him that neither of these properties were appropriate and told him he needed to find us something better immediately. Rather than work with us he stopped answering our phone calls. For two days we tried to reach him from different numbers and he did not respond. Finally we had the good fortune of speaking to another realtor who happened to know him, and she was able to call him and get our money from him two days before we were scheduled to arrive.

Jordan Taffett’s lack of professionalism was unacceptable. I would highly recommend against using him as a realtor. He proved unreliable and untrustworthy. Call someone else if you are looking for a house to rent on Fire Island.

Ripoff Report sets the record straight!  Be a smart consumer and make decisions based on adequate research.

A storm caused a tree limb to fall and damage the roof, so the tenants scheduled a week away were immediately called.  There were offered 1) a full refund;  2) choice of several  same size houses that I found for them via local real estate brokers; or 3) option to see if the contractor could repair the roof before Friday.  The group organizer was VERY appreciative of my transparency and efforts to offer other housing, as well as very understanding a tree falling was not in my control.  Repairs could not be made in time and the group organizer picked one of the other houses I had found, and asked me to pay the real estate broker directly since I was on Fire Island and she had already paid me.  The “Molly” person who filed this online complaint, if she even exists, was clearly not involved in the rental process and clueless about what actually occurred.

Second, is essentially a scam to extort money from people to be removed ($2,000 for “arbitration” to have

this complaint removed).
