We were put in touch with Fred White through Tony, a Sears window consultant, who told us that Fred would give us a quality job at a much better price, - that he would do windows , but really was a kitchen specialist.  Tony had asked if there were other renovations that we were needing.  Fred did show us a quality product at a good price & we decided to use him.  Stupidly, we did not contact any of the people that he said would give him references.

The impression he gave was that he had 2 teams working for him, & he gave us a start date.  It was some time after this date that Mark ( a person he contracts with), arrived to remove the old kitchen, & the installation was supposed to be completed in 3 weeks.  That was late May 2012. He had been given money early in April.  Nothing had been done when we returned from our vacation of 2 wks.  He said his teams were still busy but that he would do the job himself, - so starts the long plod! He would turn up late in the afternoon & only work for a few hours, then you did not know when he would turn up again.  An incorrect cupboard was installed, not the 24" wall cupboard that was in the plan, but 2 12" ones, which will not even allow a plate to sit in there.  Always promised to get another, but it was never at the suppliers.

Granite was finally installed toward the end of August.  He had installed the sink, but not the faucet!  Still a non functioning kitchen.  My husband installed the dishwasher & got the faucet in for me.  Fred continued to plod along, with one excuse after another for the cupboards not being available, - they sent the wrong cupboards, the truck broke down.  He would go to Atlanta to do a pickup but then say that the truck never turned up.  And he is having health problems, - got bitten by a bug on a job & this causes all sorts of health problems.  I was patient, as he really was sounding dreadful, & I told him it was obvious that he was not healthy enough to finish the job & needed to get someone else to do it.  He would agree & put me off for a few more weeks.
My husband puts in the microwave, so I am using the kitchen, but it is not finished.  There are no roll outs in the lower cupboards, so the articles that should be in there are still messing up my home in other rooms.  I am using the kitchen but still searching the rest of the house when something I need to use has not yet found its home in the kitchen due to no roll outs.

During this time he took no responsibility for anything that was going wrong, - delivery delays, wrong cupboard, & the water leak.  He nailed into a water pipe in the wall when he was putting up a support board, but said that this must have been from a builders nail rusting out, that there was no way that he did it.  But that hole was brand new, bright & shiney.  Now we have damaged hardwood in the kitchen also, - but I wasn't too concerned as the plan was to refinish our hardwood at the end of the job.

We did visit Fred in Dec 2012  to tell him that  we were finished with him & we had hoped that he had our roll outs at his location.  He did give us one roll out & sliders, but that was it.  At that visit, he did agree that he would return the deposit for windows of $6657, but that he would have to do it in installments.  We have received nothing.

We are working with J & K Kitchen & Bath near Atlanta in buying what we need to complete the kitchen, & this has cost us $1000.  And this is on top of the $15781 that he was paid to complete the job!  I am kicking myself for being so gullible & soft hearted. Maybe he did have good intentions, BUT he certainly did a lot of lying when questioned.  He denied having spent the window deposit when previously confronted in October, but this was confirmed in December when he admitted his inability to return it.

He is not a person to be trusted.
