This person scammed my father. My father has been a collector of antiques for years and now at 74 decided he did not want to leave my mother with burden of what to do with his estate hired Jugtown Antiques out of Thomaston Ga to conduct a sale which was suppose to be on 20% commission plus labor of workers.  Well when all was said and done she took him for 65% of sale.  Did not even give him receipts for money taken in or money that she said to have paid out.  I am so disgusted by this person and am wondering how she can even sleep at night.  If you know what is good for you do not fall into her trap.

Response to the inaccurate accusations presented to this web site:

Jugtown Antiques has been helping families with Estate Sales for 17 years and we recently took the sale mentioned by Debbie in Butler.  Debbie is a daughter of the client that contracted our company to liquidate his collections.  He is living and had extensive interaction with us every day while we  cleaned, organized, and priced his vast collection of items.  The client knew all details of the contract and understood his collection would take a lot of labor to get it ready for the sale.

The Butler Sale was terminated by Jugtown Antiques due to a breach in the contract agreement by our Client. He breached his contract in several ways listed below:
Very Rude To Customers Snatching Items Out Of Customers Hands Refusing To Sale Items - Client and family on Site During Sale, Etc.

It must be noted that we will not tolerate rude behavior to our customers or staff.   Our client did appoligize to us and stated that he was under alot of stress over this sale due to his family.

Although the client felt he needed to let go of his collections we feel that  emotionally he was not ready to see his belongings being sold.  This situation was intensified by some of his seemingly greedy family.
We can provide customer contact information that will verify the statements above.

Jugtown Antiques does have a standard fee of 25% but due to knowing this client for over 20 years we agreed to conduct the sale for 20% and that is what we were paid.  Labor to set sale up and newspaper advertisements are the clients responsibly as stated on the contract.  This sale took about 480 hours of labor just to set up due to the vast number of items, relocating items that were 15 miles away and all the out buildings.

The client was not charged for the hours spent on hauling of trash, taking pictures, working on his videos, placing ads on numerous web sites, sending emails to over 700 customers, placing newspaper ads nor was he charged for a day of cutting the grass and the field, weed eating, and general yard work with our equipment in order to get the area presentable for the sale.

Due to the greed of some of his family members my client and I both lost money.  This was going to be a 3 day sale due to the enormous amount of items.  At noon on the second day the client and some of his family started confronting customers. Customers walked off and started putting items back refusing to purchase due to these actions.   We finished the day with minimal sales and decided to terminate the clients contract to avoid further conflict.

We did provide an itemized printout of all expenses as we always do.  We also had an extensive discussion explaining in detail the financial settlement which the client seemed to understand.

Our contact is very simple but specific along with some other details this was clearly in his contract:   1st day all prices are firm - 2nd day items are sold price and finally we ask that our Client / Family do not attend on sale days in order to allow us to do our job professionally.
By signing our contract it means you clearly understand the rules of a sale being handled by Jugtown Antiques.

We are very proud of our crew and we love our work.
We are sorry this job did not go as planned and we did enjoy working with him until some of his family got involved.

3 pictures below are before we get started working and the 4th picture is during the set up.
