They were opening their gym and were throwing all kinds of promotions for local neighbors. So most of my family members signed up, but signed up separately at our own time.

When I signed up, I was told I'd be given 2 months free. I was only given one month free. I canceled my membership after a couple of months and let it go..

BUT when it came to my mom, they offered her 3 months free yet instead wrote down on her contract for National fitness to charge all 3 months.. then why did they offer 3 months free during their promotion?!?!? is what I don't understand!!

My mom was happy thinking that she was getting a great deal. Told all of us that she got 3 months free and so on.

A particular someone signed her up. I won't give up his name unless asked. We called the company 'national fitness', before we went personally to meet him and find out why he didn't write down on the contract what he had offered.

I acknowledge that it was my fault for not checking the contract after my mom signed it to see if they really did give her 3 months free. So, when the bills came in.. they charged her credit card every month.

Thus, we called to cancel. They instead deleted her membership and said that they would give no refund for the free months offered by word of mouth.

As for the gym, when we went to consult them.. he changed his words around saying that he never made such an offer. And told us that she was signed up for a month-to-month membership which was not given free offers (THING IS: I was also on a month-to-month membership, yet I was also offered 2 months free, even though I only got 1 month free - DURING THEIR FIRST FEW MONTHS THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO GET MORE MEMBERS TO JOIN THE GYM)

WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!!!! 19.99 times 3!

So you are complaining about the fact that you couldn't RIP THE GYM OFF?

AUTHOR: saavy consumer - (United States of America)

With all due respect to your complaint, when someone joins a gym with no contract, it is ALWAYS disclosed to the person signing up that you will be billed for "first and last month" as long as you cancel your membership by a certain date on the following month. This means that YOU ARE AGREEING TO PAY for a minimum of a two month membership.

So your mother and you were in effect trying to scam the gym when you thought that you could sign up for "X" amount of free months of membership, have those months FREE UP FRONT, cancel and then pay the gym NOTHING.

The salesman did not change his verbiage. It is standard industry language when there is no contract, meaning that you are not obligated for any sort of up front sign-up fee or yearly maintenance fee. But YOU WILL PAY AT FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS.

Your complaint is bogus and both you and your mother and any other member of your family tried to run this scam on this gym should be embarrassed and ashamed.  I can't believe that you people are complaining about the fact that a legitimate business wouldn't let you use their facility FOR FREE for however many months. How on earth do you think they stay in business if NO ONE PAYS for the use of the facility?

If you had just used the 2 months that you AGREED TO PAY FOR (that is 2 months = $19.99 x 2) then you would have gotten however many months FREE that was initially promised when you signed. So your mother would have gotten the use of an exceptional facility for five months for the price of @ $40.00 with no more obligation or charges and you would have gotten the use of the facility for four months for the same price. But since your family was busy trying to run a scam, I find it humorous that YOU GOT ZOOMED and are so foolish that you are actually bragging about your egregious behavior online.

SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!
