While trying to sell an older BMW, my boyfriend (Bill) was contacted by Justin Knapp looking to buy the car cheap and when told it had been sold, stated that he restored older BMW's and had a great one if we were interested.

My boyfriend went to look at the vehicle and came home to tell me that it was a beautiful car if I wanted to look at it.

I was in fact looking for one and went to see it. Upon seeing it, he, (Justin) claimed 4 other parties were looking at it and he needed the money that day for the rent for the appartment building he claimed to own where he worked on the autos in the parking lot and where this car was. I liked the auto and paid him by check with the stipulation that he would fix the a/c which needed a new compressor, a washer spray, and a bunch of small things, all of which he suggested to me and said to leave it there for a day so he could attend to it. In retrospect I realize it was dumb to give him the money before it was fixed but I never anticipated the final outcome.

After 2 days of it being in the parking lot, he said he did not have the time to work on it and I went to pick it up. It had been driven and the 100,000 mileage that he claimed it had was now at over 28,000 miles. Apparently it had rolled over at 100,000 but he never mentioned the other 28,000 before I purchased it.

I took the auto home and my boyfriend cleaned and simonized the entire top around the part where the convertable top folds into as well as the back doors and front console. He became familiar with every inch of the auto. The car looked great but had a few issues still pending.

On the way to take the auto back a few days later, I called Justin on the way and he made some very innapropriate comments to me such as sexual innuendos and personal prefrences of his and that he had wild drug parties at his apt. building.  I told him I just wanted the car fixed per his promise and ended the conversation quickly. Once at the apartment building, he told me what he would do for the car and to pick it up in a couple of days and he seemed drugged but there were other cars with other people working on them there so I figured perhaps he would honor his promise being that it was not a one time deal but he was in the business of selling BMW's to others as well.

He told me to rent a car for 2 days at my expense which I had objection with but again just wanted the auto fixed. After 2 days he text'd my boyfriend and said the auto was not ready and to keep renting. This went on back and forth for about a week and finally my boyfriend went to the building which is not close, and noticed that as soon as Justin saw him, he hid behind a door in the building carrying parts. He came out ant told John that he had better pieces for the colomns or posts around the convertable top that would look better if he changed them and that they were $125 apiece. Upon seeing them,  Bill said not to touch that part of the car because they actually looked much worse.

In another couple of days, Bill went yet again to the apartment in the afternoon and found Justin in his apartment stoned out of his mind. He would not open the door and told John to go away and of course he had the keys to the auto so it could not be taken then.

It took until the middle of the next week when he finally said I could pick up the auto and it was finished. When I went there, the top was up and I could not see the damage he had done. But when I came home and we took the top down, it was apparent that he had ripped off the back door panels and replaced the posts with the others he had and they did not fit since they were from a different model auto. All the rubber was cut, missing and parts were missing from the door frames and window tracks. The doors do not close properly now. There are gaps everywhere. There was grease and dirt all over the back of the car with loose screws all around. None of the issues were corrected with the exception of an old rebuilt compressor that will probably go very soon. The 1/2 tank of gas that was left in the car was gone and the odometer now said 24,000 miles which leads me to believe he somehow turned it back after he drove it all over as he does not have a working car of his own. Since my boyfriend had worked closely on the vehicle, he knew exactly how much damage had been done to it.

The car looks terrible now and very damaged. He has denied any and all tampering with the car in several very nasty texts when questioned in a phone message from me about what he had done and has proceeded to also text many rude, profane and defammatory messages to my boyfriends phone. I am trying to send them to my email to eventually be attached here.

This has caused me considerable grief, future expense, not to mention that I am afraid of this very sick man. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Before and after pictures to follow

Thank You

It's sad the way some people are

AUTHOR: Cap''tFlannagan - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, July 19, 2010

I am a friend of Justin Knapp's. I use the present tense because he will forever be in my heart. On April 11th Justin passed away and the cause of death has not yet been released. After reading the last post of 'suggestions' on how to take one's vengeance  out on someone you believe has wronged you, I now have some serious questions regarding the level a person would go to for revenge. Perhaps I should contact the detective in charge of the case and pass on this little string of rants.
To the unfortunate lady that decided to buy a used "auto" without doing any research on how to buy a used "auto": I have 6 words that might come in handy for you. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If you are not an informed consumer and you pay for something without researching and inspecting the item, the chance that you will get screwed increases exponentially. Justin did sell "autos" that had been in accidents. He fixed them back up and sold them. If you have never heard of carfax, (maybe you thought it was autofax) I suggest you google it.
Also, I would recommend that you learn what the basic functions of an engine do, so that in the future when you take a "auto" to a 'shop/mechanic' you can understand that antifreeze is SUPPOSED to be in the engine.
I am not going to defend any of Justin's actions because I too bought a lemon from him. However, the difference between you and I is that I was an informed consumer and I learned after the first test drive that there were more problems with the BMW than I was originally aware. I kindly declined to buy the "auto", and bygones were bygones. I didn't feel the need to hold some major grudge and post his picture and a picture of where he lived, on the internet. Which in your case you chose to do. Some lawyer might have a field day with this one because last I checked that can be considered a form of assault and/or harassment. Above all, the method that you chose to deal with your frustration comes across as childish and imbecilic. You should try re-reading your posts. They portray you as an adult whining about how they don't know how to be an adult. (I laughed the first time I read them.)
If Justin were still alive, I am sure he would still leave "profane and defammatory (sic) messages" on your phone. He was a (very good) backyard mechanic that sold BMW's to pay the bills on the money pit of an apartment complex he owned. If he was rude to you or unable to bow to your every whim, you might consider that you probably weren't the first priority on his list.
I happen to know what you paid for your "auto". I also know that Justin wanted to buy it back from you because he lost money in the deal. You have no reason to complain. So, I have a "Consumer Tip" for you: Put your big girl panties on, take some personal responsibility for the fact that you screwed yourself by not researching and inspecting the "auto", and quit whining about your bad decisions in public.

Now, to the numb nuts who wants to give mechanic advice: While I wholeheartedly agree with most of what you said to the woman purchasing the "auto", physical violence (or the encouragement thereof) is for the type of people who lack the cajones to actually stand up to their problems and deal with them. For you to recommend to this woman that she damage another person's property simply because you don't like the (only picture she could find of him - his facebook profile) picture of the guy, shows that you truly have issues. I sincerely wish that this idea of yours comes true against you and that you know what it feels like to have neanderthal violence enacted upon your "autos".

first off i must say this is a pretty f ucked up story---if this photo you submitted is of this justin guy he looks like a scumbag and based on looks-you should not have done business with him in the first place---however--this is what happens when females who do not know about cars have there big bad boyfriends go car shopping for them---you kept saying bill(your boyfriend) this and that--anyway--you mention bill knew everything about the car-"he became familiar with every inch of the auto"--um-apparently not--maybe every inch on the outside--perhaps you left things out of your story but after rading this it appears you did not look under the hood at all once and only judged the car from the outside apperance--you menion in your update that you took it to a shop and that is when you found the things not plugged in and all the engine compartment issues-and found out it was in an accident--wires balled up under the hood---apparently you or the big bad boyfriend never looked!!---there is a saying don't judge a book by it's cover-guess what-i do!--but that does not mean in SOME cases you don't read the book and give it a chance-- if it sucks like you though then dump it--sometimes you read the book and it is good and you may have been wrong--then sometimes--it is better to just say the book sucks and not read it at all and give it no chance--this is one of those cases where based on how this guy looks-you should not have given a chance---i apologize but i as a mechanic see females come to the shop with there big bad boyfriends who don't know s**t and act like they do to impress there little girlfriends--like there presence will be intimadating--i find it amusing--guys actually get ripped off more at a  shop--they pretend they know it all--then when talking to someone who they know knows more than them-they will agree with whatever you say(even if you know it to be false) like they knew that 2 so they still have the apperance they know it all--but that is some under the surface pyschology---i find it sad a girl cannot take care of herself and  has to bring the man along like they are weak or something--there is just some common sense things--next time may i advise to think for yourself and not get the bf involved with your decisions---read a book or something about cars--i would recommend ASE study guides as there is a lot of useful info--in any cse i apologize for this whole thing but this is juts how i see it--and i am one of these internet assholes that feel everyone deserves my view--and again--i do not deny this justin guy is a dusch bag and what happened was f'd up---may i suggest private justice for yourself-you know where he lives!--this does not mean taking a spiked baseball bat to his testacles--but you know what he does--maybe you can destroy some of his cars you know he will sell to others and prevent him from doing the same to others??--but remember-what goes around comes around--let the almighty get his a**

Justin Lewis Knapp/intent to KILL

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 24, 2010

After buying the auto in good faith from the person selling restored older BMW's out of his parking lot (with no liscense determined later when I called the city of Phoenix code dept. who informed me there were at least 4 reports since January of 2010 before I purchased the vehicle) and after he had lied to me and had also stolen many parts from the vehicle as well as well as ruining the interior of the auto, this is what happened:

I drove away in the vehicle not knowing that everything he claimmed about the car was ficticious. The car had been in a front end accident which he denied and had many of the parts missing with loose wires rolled up in balls or loose ended around the engine under the hood and underneath the auto. The fuel filter was zip tied to the suspension which could have caused the car to blow up upon impact. The steering shaft was not properly inserted and slipping out and could have come out at any second causing a serious accident and also death of myself, anyone in the auto and anyone in the vicinity. The anti-freeze was leaking into the motor and heater and was omitting poisonous fumes that could have also caused death. The air-conditioner that he claimed to have fixed required a trans cooler at the cost of $500. The cruise control cable was disconnected and the front brakes were basically gone which, could have also caused death. The belt pulley and transioner were basically non-existent and would have seriously damaged the motor. The winshield pump which he claimed to fix was also missing and many many other parts were missing, damaged, burned up, etc.

I paid the man more than bluebook price for a an older auto that was aledgedly a functioning safe auto as he claimed and drove away in a death trap that would have killed me. The first day I was driving with my grandchildren ages 8,7, and 7 months when the steering wheel began to shake, the auto began veering off the road and strange fumes were coming out from under the hood.

Had I not stopped and called for another auto, myself and these children would have all been killed. I had the car taken to a mechanic of recommendation who was shocked and appauled when he examined the auto and said he would gladly go to court to testify against this crimminal. The costs for repairs will be nearly what I paid for the vehicle.

I am very concerned that this crimminal will do this again to some innocent and  unsuspecting person who is not as fortunate as myself and they will end up dead or cause the death of others. As far as I am concerned, this man is dangerous and premeditating in that he deliberatly sells autos that have been in serious accidents without disclosure by just sugar coating the outside appearance and never letting on about anything going on inside.

I am a single woman and bought the auto on the spur of the moment because my other auto was old and begining to have issues and I needed a way to get to work. I realize that I should have checked more carefully on the car and the person selling it  and certainly will be more careful about something like this in the future but for now, I can only move forward in my drive to try to stop this man from hurting other people.

I will be following up on this and going through the justice system no matter how much red tape there is. If I can stop this man from killing one person, it will have all been worth it. This man is despicable and will end up hurting, injuring or killing somone if he is not stopped. The vile texts that were sent to my phone because he did not want to honor the work he promised to do on the auto (verbal aggrement) were only the tip of the iceberg. This man is capable of murder.

Justin Lewis Knapp/unethical auto salesman

POSTED: Saturday, March 20, 2010

I have now taken the auto to a repair shop to have it evaluated. I found out that the wiring and a number of components were either missing or not re-connected in the engine compartment. The hood insulation was missing. The belt that controls the a/c and other pullys was the wrong belt and half gone with threads wrapping around the pullys. The window washer sprayer pump is missing. The fog lights are missing and many parts in the doors are also missing. The front and rear door panels and rubber sealer along the door mouldings are all chewed up from his removal of the parts. I will be taking the vehicle in tomorrow to have it completely checked and fixed at an additional cost to me. I paid up front for this auto in good faith and could have been seriously injured early on because of the belt problem, etc., or could have burned up the engine.
