I will tell you this.  I have inside information.  These people are charging you residual money each month.  Most goes to a so called bogus lawyer who is not liscenced to practice any law in your state.  They keep you on the hook so that you can keep paying your ACH draft.  They only start to work with your lender when your program is almost up.  You can negotiate on your own.  just threaten BK and most creditors will work with you.  payday loans are a joke- and paying them off is a joke.  there is no honor among theives.

Consumer Legal Advisors, Karger & Associates, and Payday Loan Resolution are all the same company

AUTHOR: da_truth - ()

POSTED: Sunday, July 27, 2014

Like previously stated, this company will take forever to settle out your payday loans or credit card debt. They have a guy in negotiations who is not fully functional. There has been many people on the program that have recieved a lawsuit that could have been avoided. This is because your file is not worked unless you call and complain. You are better handling this on your own if you are dealing with any of the companies. All of those companies are under the same umbrella

Karger - Consumer Legal Advisors - Hawkins Paralegal definitely shady

AUTHOR: Lysaem6776989902 - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, June 04, 2014

I work in the debt settlement department of a very large payday loan company.  We work on over 800 accounts a month, and offer a generous discount and even accept monthly payments to help the customer resolve their balance.

Consumer Legal Advisors (also called Karger Legal, Hawkins Paralegal, Payday Loan Resolution) is absolutely impossible to work with - truly a nightmare. We're having our legal department look into them and hopefully they will make the decision to not even communicate with them.

They ignore our letters for MONTHS, up to a YEAR in some cases. When they actually do send an offer, it is absurdly unacceptable (for example, a $1200 balance and they offer $168).  On top of that, even in a couple of cases where we accepted a very low offer as a way of a test/trial, they still did not make any payments.

The worst part is that when the clients do end up calling us, they tell us they have been paying money to CLA/Karger the whole time, and thought everything was taken care of.  This is definitely NOT in the best interest of the consumer - because while they think things are being resolved, the lender will end up outsourcing or selling the account, which ends up damaging the person's credit and tacking on a bunch more fees and interest.

I feel really bad for people who think this company is helping them, and wish there was something that could be done to stop companies like this.  Not all debt settlement companies are shady like this one, we work with many, many different companies who stay on top of their clients' accounts, agree to reasonable settlements and pay a monthly payment with the funds they collect from the consumer.
