Ken Hughes - Merchants Credit Guide ripoff Repeated Automated Calls Chicago Illinois

My wife received a series of voice mail calls to her cell phone a couple of months ago, they were ignored and stopped. Then this week they started again so I did my research before calling the number back. What I found here at Rip Off Report spooked me so I looked further. It turns out that Merchants Credit Guide is a longstanding legitimate company that is over a hundred years old. I then called Merchants Credit Guide and after supplying nothing more then that cell phone number I was informed that they were looking for Alfred *****. Once I explained that there wasn't anybody by that name at this number I was told it would be removed from the database. Total call time including hold was less the 5 minutes (I spent a lot more then that researching them).

What Merchants Credit Guide, NCO and all the other debit recovery companies do is a dirty job. I wouldn't want it anymore then the next person reading this. Try to find the positive, these are people who are going to work everyday, trying to earn a living the best way they can in order to pay their bills. I think it's a lot better then being a welfare leech.

Bottom line is as long as there are businesses & people who fail to pay their debits this will be a necessary evil. The FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) are the rules and if you feel they are in violation then report them. If you don't like the rules then lobby the government to change them. If you feel you are being scamed report it.
