This would be long but I will post a link to explain as it happened over 6 months so will keep the input here brief.
Not only has Kia been caught out falsely quoting fuel figures but they have another secret...Mold. Use any search engine and it will suprise you just how manyentries you will find under my kia smells, moldy kia etc
Kia know they have this problem and so notified thier dealers through an info share called TSB 016. The service bulletin explains that when it is hot outside and air conditioning is used then for some models and since 2011, the condensation stays within the tubes and falls back to the evaperator and from there mold grows. Why is this a problem? well the next time you use it after the mold has started to grow it will force mold spores into the cabin and into it's inhabitants lungs, you, your partner, your children and your elderly. The TSB016 is a temporary fix as the design is the issue.
My experience of this began on the 04/28/2012 when we bought a brand new Kia Optima ex turbo From Billion Kia in Rapid City S/D/ and within one week we reported the car smelt moldy. Over the next 6 months the dealer tried multiple attempts to rid the car of the mold and even at head office for Billion we had offers to buy the car if the next treatment didn't work and they reneged on that offer everytime as the treatments failed.
They ultimately pushed it upto Kia National who whilst making comments continually refused to put anything in writing despite multiple requests to do so. In the end it all relied on a kia tech inspecting the vehicle to find the air con/summer problem...in the middle of South Dakota in the middle of..November
It won't come as a suprise to anyone he couldn't find an issue from the 6 minute test drive we did in November. An interesting point, many other Kia owners have reported this smell to the local Kia dealers who have then tried to charge the customer fro the treatment even though the treatment is the fault of the car
So we have a car that smells and is dangerously putting mold spores into the cabin and kia are trying to keep it quiet. As I said, use a search engine and look up moldy kia, smelly kia
Anyway I have hit the basics and here is the full walk through of my experience if you want to read it, Thanks for reading.

I just had the TSB016 job done and it sent me to the ER. Kia is trying to cover up this mold issue by spraying toxic chemicals into our cars. God forbid, they fix the known issue with the mold developement.
