I am writing this report to expose the inhumane and unfair treatment of employees by the Kohler compant at it's Faucet plant in Sheridan Arkansas. All my information comes from the fact that I used to work there and that I know other people who work there and used the to work there themselves. So, here are the practices at this plant that I firmly believe are both inhumane and unfair and that need to change:

1. They over work there their employees and do not give them enough off time. At Kohler they will work you 6 days a week at a time at 10 hrs a shift for 4 days and then mandatory overtime on Friday and Saturday for 8hr shifts, with sometimes a 10 hr shift on Friday and after all that you get only one day off and the employees there go onto work tired all the time and burned out. With working so many hours you have no family time or personal time to handle important personal affairs like Doctor appointment s etc. I know of people where working all of these hours caused marriage problems. It is my understanding that Kohler management over works employees to keep production numbers up to a certain amount to get bonuses which is a terrible system that ensures that employees will be over worked and mistreated.

2. Kohler has an unfair attendance policy that forces people to come to work sick. Kohler has their attendance policy set so strictly that being out for being sick will count against you and with such a policy in place people come to work sick and will get other employees sick which does not promote a safe and healthy work place.

3. Kohler talks a good game about employee safety but does not back it up when it counts. There was just a big snow storm that hit the area and the storm hit during the night shift and the plant management did not send people home early to endure that they get home safely before it got too bad and did not close the plant that night or the next day when the roads were icey and dangerous and then told employees to use their best judgement if they wanted to leave but still counted it against them under the attendance policy which if you get only a few points they will fire you. The roads that night became covered in snow and slick to a dangerous degree, and there were employees who slid into a ditch on the way home. There were a lot of accidents in the area because of this snow storm and Kohler still made their employees drive in it that night and the next morning. Kohler has a slot of employees that drive long distances to get to work and they were especially negatively impacted and put in danger be Kohler's irresponsible and dangerous bad decision making during this situation.

I am writing this because it is not right how the Kohler company is treating their employees and it is so sad that a company with so much potential to be better fails to realize that the only way to really do better and to be stronger as a company is to take care of your workers and to treat them fairly and to do what's right and moral. I hope that the people who read this do call and write Kohler and send them a message that they need to change and quit treating their employees like they don't matter and instead treat them like human beings with human dignity and respect.  This Kohler plant has no air conditioning so the plant is super hot in the summer time and employees have to work in these unsafe conditions, there have been workers in the past who have passed out.
