I wanted to work at LA Weight Loss so I could help people lose weight. I went to training and felt empowered to make a difference as did many of my coworkers in my class. Little did we know that it was all a bunch of crap.

all i really have to say now is that things went down hill and all of us were being lied to. i found out that people aren't getting some of the discounts that they are told they are getting and that most of the staff, (more upper management) will cheat clients and lie to them to get a sale. i understand every business has to make money. but i wouldn't compromise great business ethic for a crappy pay check. frankly i don't know how they (the cheaters) can live with themselves.

I left the first steady job i have had in a long time because of being lied to. i needed that job. but i couldn't deal with the fact that i would be telling my clients lies. by the way, when they asked why i was leaving, and i told them the lies i had found out, they never, ever denied it. sick, sick people.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

wait until you plateau

AUTHOR: Erica - (U.S.A.)

Hey Joanne, I am happy that you have lost so much weight so far. It's great that you have found something to help you so far. I myself lost 15 pounds on the plan. I just hope that when the time comes that you plateau you still get the help you need.

I was an employee of LA and I taught their training to employees. I would love to know if you bought all the bars and supplements. If you did you were probably treated like a queen compared to those who couldn't afford them but were still promised the support and help to acheive their goals. Let me tell you right now those who don't purchase aren't treated as well. Most employees will flat out make up excuses not to take a client who doesn't buy because it will affect their paycheck and the company revenue. This is where weight watchers is better.

Maybe you have had a great experience and I hope it continues. Just remember to keep your positive attitude if you start to plateau. I had many clients who we called the "dietician's" about, and they could not help them. My Regional Manager told me this was because they were not registered dieticians. I am not sure if that is true, but this came from someone who would know.

If you do lose the rest of your weight I hope you are able to keep it off. Do me a favor and ask your "counselor" next time you go in what the success rate is for those who actually keep it off and get their rebate back. If they tell you a number ask to see proof. I will tell you as an employee when I asked my regional what that number was I was told to make something up that sounded good. When I asked her to find out for me she said to say 85% because it sounded good. I hope you did your research on that part or you will now. As an intellegent lady with an MBA I am sure you know it is just as hard if not harder to keep it off than it is to lose it. And guess what, if you are in your maintenence phase and you gain more than 6 pounds back you will have to buy more weight loss weeks back if you didn't come in 3x a week and follow the advice of your counselor. Ask to see your file so your can read the notes they have taken on you so far and hope there is nothing they can hold against you if you do gaint weight back, because your program is not garaunteed.

I am very happy that you are losing weight. LA Weight Loss does in fact work. I never said they didn't. What I simply said was that they were lying to customers. When you purchase the bars in the begining, you are not getting the deal they say you are. I don't know how they do it to make it look like you are, but you aren't. I am not stupid either, but I was fooled. I would have never known if one of my clients hadn't done the math. You end up paying the FULL price for your bars. Now, you are right, there are franchise stores and corporate ones. I hope the franchises run their businesses better. And you know, just because my centers were being run by shady people doesn't mean that all of the other centers are like that. I just could not stand the fact that my wonderful clients were being lied to. Who knows. maybe it is different every where else. But I suppose if you are losing all the weight you want to be losing, what does it matter if the company is lying to you or not,(speaking generally).

It's not LA Weight Loss, It's your personal committment

I am an LA Weight Loss client. Everything was said to me up front. I was completely informed and I chose to do it because I knew I needed someone to help me stay motivated and encouraged through what I knew would be a long process. So far I am averaging 2 lbs per week. I have lost 72 lbs and have 51 left to get to my goal. I also knew this was a personal comittment to myself so I asked all the questions before agreeing to pay for anything. I was not forced to purchase maintenance weeks either and pay for that up front. LA Weight loss has taught me portion control and that is a very important step in taking control of your eating over the long haul. I was not forced to buy LA Lites.

I am not stupid. I have an MBA so I am more than aware that their job is to sell and to make money so I didn't get caught up in that part of it. None of us would be employed if companies didn't have a way to make money. All companies are based on sales so get over it. I made my decision to join, whether or not to purchase LA Lites or supplements etc based on what I thought was best for me.

Research a program before you join. LA Weight Loss is just like Weight Watchers in that you are learning portion control. At LA Weight Loss you see your counselor one on one and develop a relationship over time whereas at Weight Watchers you attend group meetings and count points. You can buy supplements from Weight Watchers, protien bars, meal replacements etc. What makes them any better.

Also keep in mind that each center is either a franchise or corporate owned. So each center may have a different personality based on the franchise owner vs the corporate office.

Eat less, move more. It's the basic tenent of LA Weight Loss Centers just like any other advice you would get from any fitness expert.

Oh yeah and don't forget the Registered Dieticians they have on staff. Do you still think they are a rip off. If you could lose weight with your own internal motivation then you would have done it by now. It's not bad to admit you need help and encouragement. It's not like LA Weight Loss is forcing you to take some unsafe diet pill to lose weight.

Get over it people!
