First let me start out by saying, I currently have 2 Labs a Yellow (3) and Chocolate (12) so you know I am an experienced Dog Lover especially Labs. Everyone of my Labs have been rescues, from the time I was able to talk I have been fighting against Puppy Mills and not to ever buy a dog when there are so many in shelters, who not only become part of your family but part of your heart (best dogs ever). I am happily married, have a wonderful job, no 2 legged children only 4 legged (LOL), have a house (several of acres of property) and spend every moment I have with my husband and dogs.

So with just a brief summary you know I'm a pretty responsible member of society.

While on the internet one day I come across a pure Black Lab dog for adoption, the story line was "SAD SITUATION" his owners lost their home and needs a new forever home............ Well of course it took me about 3 seconds to send an email to Anne Hilchey at LABS4RESCUE telling her I was interested. This was just before Christmas 2011, over the next 2 months (Yep that's right 2 months) I got nothing but the run around, finally I had enough and when I started to press for answers I found out this dog wasn't even available to be adopted yet. The family was possibly losing their house and hadn't even put the dog up yet. To make the story even better when he did finally become available I was informed by Labs4rescue that they had concerns with my home situation and if we were to leave the house where would the dogs stay. I had answered all their questions and informed her to do a house visit to see. Again weeks went by and then Ann informed me that because we didn't have Children she felt that we wouldn't qualify for the adoption process because Labs love children and need children in their lives. I was heartbroken that the dog we were interested in was still to that day sitting in a shelter sleeping alone when I had a wonderful loving  home and due to the fact that Ann at labs4rescue didn't want to take time out of her day to do a home visit disqualified me after 2 1/2 months of trying everything possible to work with them on the fact that me and my husband couldn't conceive children.

This company is a farce and it disgusts me that they use LABS in their sir name, they will not speak to you until you fill out an application and pay their fees and then they put you through nothing but aggravation and heartbreak. Once I started to tell my story on the internet and to other people I was amazed how many people had similar stories working with the same company. Not one of them had a successful experience with this company. They are all about the money not the LOVE of the dogs. They are very rude and be wary of a company that you can only email and can't talk to someone. Look on the web page for contact information???? You won't find a phone # or a physical address only a PO BOX......

Please don't continue to fund these backdoor internet operations, for the love of the animals. Look at your local pounds first. Read the complaints, and the Dog adoption agreement thoroughly because at no time during the dogs life with you do you actually own the dog, they continue to have legal rights to the dog.

This is my last communication with Labs4rescue:
This is the problem with people preaching ADOPT A DOG...... stop the puppy farms. I have a wonderful safe home in which I have giving several dogs a more than safe happy home, I have perfect references from both friends and vets, abundance of space to run, our own personnel pond for the dogs to swim in and you a volunteer is telling me I can't adopt a dog that I have picked out because I don't have kids. How do you know I wasn't planning to get Bentley licensed to visit the school system and do a reading with the children program (which I currently do with my other lab), or volunteer at the local children's hospital in which Bentley would be around children at least a couple of days a week, I also have nieces and nephews that are at my house at least a
couple of days a week and all the time in the summer. You don't know because you
and Lab Rescue never made the attempt to look into what was best for Bentley and
that is the sad situation here.

I guess the puppy mills will win again because of your decision, because we will be going and getting another dog that I have been waiting for patiently since before Christmas.

Just an FYI, Bentley was still available for adoption according to their WEB page on petfinder.com.  as of last week, 4 months later.
