I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician with over 25 years experience. 13 of those years were spent working in emergency medicine. I have owned Labs for a good part of my life and are very familiar with their behaviors and habits and all the "fun" trouble they can get themselves into. Six weeks prior to discovering "Charlie" on the Website we ran into a horrible run of bad luck. Within those 6 weeks we lost 2 of our loving family members. Our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and Our Beagle. BOTH came from RESCUE ORGANIZATION!! We were all devastated, including our other dog, who is a Black Lab. He was terribly depressed so we decided to look for a companion and new member of our family. I reached out to Ann Hilchey ( or whatever her name was) and expressed how much we were taken by "Charlie". I filled out an application and they, of course, took their fee, and shifted me from one person to the next. After 4 phone interviews!

On the first contact I had with them I was told "What a great Dog mom I would be!". Then the conversation came up about the Invisible Fence. The first woman said that she actually uses one! They are Hypocrites! The rest of them said that the Invisible fences are unacceptable. We liked "Charlie" so much we were even considering putting up a fence for him. I have 4.5 acres of land and live 400 yards off the road. And my family had a rotating schedule, so he would only be alone for 4-5 hours a day. We love to hike and I do agilty for fun with the lab I have now and he would have another companion to keep him company. I have had dogs my whole life. My references actually are veterinarians. Who do you have to be to get accepted by these people. And you people wonder why there is an over abundance of dogs that need homes. Of all people, I get that you need to monitor where these pets go, but .... Are you serious? I do this for a living! And you tell me "Charlie isn't a good fit with my family" AND BY TEXT! You don't have to guts to talk to me and tell me. Please...Poor "Charlie" just missed out on a home where he would have had been treated like gold! Healthy and spoiled. Hiked and played! Ended his days with evenings by the fire. But most of all loved!

Application Fee Refunded to Applicant

AUTHOR: Labs4Rescue - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, August 24, 2018

Unfortunately Kimber was given incorrect information from one of the rescue's collaborators. Labs4Rescue considers fences on a dog by dog basis and does adopt to families with invisible fences. After talking to Kimber, we refunded her $15 application fee.
