Law office of Brett Margolin Do NOT give them your money! Lake Grove, New York

After numerous attempts at loan modifications with our bank, we chose to use the Law Office of Brett Margolin. BIG MISTAKE! We decided to use them because of their 100% money back guarantee on the entire retainer "if we are not successful in achieving a modification you will be entitled to a full refund!" I have that in writing.

We paid them a retainer fee of $2850.00. Now it has been almost a year and we are no better off than we were when we started. In fact, we are worse.

We did not receive a loan modification. Our payment did not change at all. They say we are not entitled to a refund and I am still waiting to hear back from the person that denied the refund. I have been waiting over a month now.

What they did do was drag this out almost a year. What little they did was get the bank to put the two payments that we had missed at the end of the loan. We still have to pay them....and don't forget the $1000 of late fees that we have to pay because this went on for the past year. So we are current- big deal. We still CANNOT make the payment and being current will not last for long. And on top of that, we are in an ARM and the payment will be going up later this year.

So we are right back where we started except with $1000 in late fees and we are out the almost $3000 we paid the law firm. The two people I dealt with at the law firm both admitted to me that this was not really a loan modification when I complained about this agreement that they were pressing me to make with my bank.

So $4000.00 later, we are right back where we started and not able to make our payments! DO NOT go with this law firm!
