This law firm is a total rip-off. Received a letter for garnishment of wages with the judges paperwork included on a debt that wasn't mine and I was never served with papers telling me there was even an issue. They have multiple addresses to contact them, along with the one listed here the paperwork I received from them had the following address:
PO Box 10228, making it hard to contact them. In addition to that http://www.mcgavic.com/ says it's 'Closed for Maintenance' but if you drill down on the Internet you can get to other pages on the site. Also if you call the number they list on their letters you get nothing after hours. If you call the number on the website you can eventually leave a message. I was never served a subpoena but got a letter from this firm in September with a judgement from the court dated in March. If you get ANY paperwork from this company send them a validation of debt form which can be found on the Internet. This place is a total scam. My validation of debt form goes out tomorrow and if they don't respond with a ton of information in 30 days they are required by law to drop the entire thing in 30 days. They also don't tell you the name of the creditor or provide you with any information regarding what/who you need to pay off and why. This firm is a joke and should be shut down.

""I was never served a subpoena but got a letter from this firm in September with a judgement from the court dated in March.""

You should request a copy of the "proof of service" document from the court that granted the judgment. If the summons was served at another address, you may have grounds for the court to VACATE the judgment against you.

""My validation of debt form goes out tomorrow and if they don't respond with a ton of information in 30 days they are required by law to drop the entire thing in 30 days.""

Incorrect. First, there is a judgment against you so it's too late to demand validation of the debt per the FDCPA. Your better action would be to examine all court documents, especially the "proof of service" document to determine if you have grounds for approaching the court to vacate the judgment against you.

Second, In the FDCPA there is no 30 day window for them to respond to a debt validation request and they are not required to "drop the entire thing." What they are required to do is CEASE collection activity until such time as they provide you with validation documents. This is moot-there is a judgment in place against you.
