I purchased a leather recliner from the Green Bay, Wisconsin Lay-Z-Boy store for $1,500 along with a leather protection plan.  After 13 months, the color on the headrest started fading!  This is not due to any hair products, sweat, etc. - areas of the chair that are exposed to sweat and much more pressure (arms and foot rest) show no signs of any discoloration and I'm the only person who lives in the household.  I called the Green Bay store and was told to call the compay that provides the leather protection plan.  I called that company and was told that the leather protection plan only covers accidental damage to the chair.  Then, I called the Green Bay store again and they gave me the phone number for the customer support department at Lay-Z-Boy headquarters.  I called that number and was told that the warranty had expired one month earlier, but that I should send them photos of the damage and they would evaluate them and get back to me in a few days.  They also told me that they would stand behind the damage if it was a defect in materials.  That was three weeks ago and they refuse to return my emails or phone calls.  I've tried contacting the Green Bay store, but they do the same thing.  I posted a comment on their facebook page and someone from Lay-Z-Boy responded, telling me to contact the corporate support department - that's the idiots who won't respond to my emails and phone calls.  I wrote the CEO of the company, but he didn't reply either - big surprise.  What was particularly disappointing is that quite a few people replied to my facebook post saying that Lay-Z-Boy did the same thing to them....they tell them to submit photos and then refuse to respond to their emails and phone calls.

I will NEVER purchase another Lay-Z-Boy product and will do my best to convince everyone I know to do the same.

I received a phone call today from customer service at Lay-Z-Boy.  The are sending me a new back for my recliner, so I'm pleased with the way this was resolved.
