Steve Davis called saying I had been approved for a loan from Lend Tree LLC ane wanted routing and bank account number. I gave it to him becauise I was in need of a loan for my roof. However, when he asked if I did online banking and wandted my user name and password so I refused. He called back again and even sent through an email.

Lending Tree does not screen their lenders at all

Lending Tree is not a lender. They introduce borrowers and lenders. Lending tree is a third party lead generator for lenders at the lenders expense. HOWEVER, in addition to genuine lenders, there are scammers that have access to Lending Tree. Putting your name on the website generates attention from scammers to legitimate lenders. Lending Tree does not screen out scammers at all. There are better ways to obtain loans than putting your information online for the world to see. JMO.
You were right about not providing your name and password to your bank account information.
