Took the wifes car in to get 4 new booties at 55K, Went in to get sale price in an advertisement, They did not have stock (a small schwab tire center)

The suggested another correct size tire, more expensive. of course, we agreed, 2 hours later we come back and pick up the car., Store is closing, Leave the car in the parking lot another 2 hours. When we get to the car. 4 of the wrong size tires are mounted. store does replace them, but did not offer to correct inconvenience. Furthermore no apology. One would think while taking off all 4 tires.someone would check the size of the old against the new. (after all they are a tire store)

I can only assume that the do not really inspect tires, they cannot recognise size differences, and there is no quality control or check against the paperwork.

IF they do not check the tires going out. I doubt they check the quality going in.

Avoid this store.

Well, Mike,  Thanks for the timely followup.  As far as your gratitude,  Thanks for the warning not to patronize your business,.

Seriously.

the report listed a single failure of this business in its fact checking/ followup/ direction taking.

Sorry to inconvenience you,  But taking an afternoon off to correct someone elses error costs me over 200 bucks.   Lets see,  If I just take 200 out of your pocket........ will you notice?

Or better yet,  lets compare this to other business',    you go to your car dealership for a used car, and some less than experienced individual substitues a different vehicle,  or perhaps you head off for a ski vacation wanting your room for 4, and someone failed to process the reservation and only had a studio with a pull out.

Maybe you had a medical procedure scheduled and someone removed a wrong organ. Too bad,  We'll get the right one next time.

What we are talking about here is a business that had poorer quality control than its competitors.  Previous to this incident, I had used LES for 15 sets of tires.  So yes,  I expect top notch service (since that is the focus of their advertising).  I did not say avoid LES SCHWAB,  I said avoid this store.  This isnt even the first problem I have had with this store.  Just the last problem.

The purpose of the forum is to identify shoddy business and their practices.

les schwab tire size error

I am not an employee or associated with  Les Schwab in any manner, but I have worked at tire store, mostly as a manager, for most of my life.  Therefore I believe what I have to say has some creditability.

First, it is very common for people to wish to change the size of tires on a vehicle.    Different sized tires can give better performance or an other size better mileage.
Therefore the person installing the tires would have no reason to question the change of size.

The wrong size can be brought out in a number of ways.  First they could have been put away incorrectly and if it is getting close to the end of the day, people are hurrying and don't pay attention to the size.  Or the person pulling the  tires could misread the  size from the work order.

Therefore I think it is grossly unfair to say the store is ripping you off.   You stated that they did change the tires out with no hassle.  The incorrect tires they put on could just as well be more expensive than the correct ones.

By the way, I am glad you went to their store rather than mine.    I sure don't want someone like you as a customer.
