Be aware of LGI Homes.
Their financing "product" is a scam. Per my presenter, PMI is paid for the life of the loan. Normally, PMI is removed once you have paid off 20% or your mortgage or if you make a 20% down payment. They do not offer VA loans, too restrictive, per my presenter.
Secondly, I was unable to view the model homes until my credit had been pulled, and the LGI sales person, could tell me what I qualify for. I am well aware of how much home I can afford. I had a pre-qualification letter with me, but I had to be approved with their program, which meant pulling my credit.
Why would I let a sales person pull my credit? How is my personal information protected once it's pulled? I dont know the background of the sales people, would I bet a victim of identity theft?
Why would I provide all of my personal information without knowing what I'm buying or have some idea about what this product looks like?
Why woud I knowing pay PMI for 30 years? Approximately $130 a month for 30 months, pure profit for LGI Homes.
After this presentation, I understand why this company caters to first time home buyers; they are unaware that this is not the way to buy a home.
Run from LGI Homes. There are many other options.
