I had an account with Juniper Bank over five years ago; the credit card I had with them had a limit of ~$250 if memory serves. I had every intention of paying it off, then lost my job.Priorities like food, rent and utilities came first.

I'm not certain when LHR purchased the account from Juniper, but it seems like it's been at least a couple of years that I've been called at least 3 times per day and getting regular mailings. That original $250 ballooned to over $2500.00,which I thought was a ridiculous amount.
I lost my mother in June after a short illness, and then decided to move to her house in FL.Before I left I wanted to try and straighten out some old debts and try to make a settlement with the company.I wrote them and told them I could offer $500; it was either that or nothing.I'm a full time college student with a chronic illness so money is very tight.I thought offering twice the original amount was more than fair. They accepted, giving me a due date towards the end of August (this year.)

At the very end of August I was moving from up north to here,so I mailed out my bills as soon as I got settled, the $500 being one of them.Imagine my shock to see a letter saying 'thank you for your payment, now send us $1800 more.' I called immediately-after trying to make an agreement with them after this much time I was really bowled over.I was told that the payment was 2 weeks late, and they had "contracts" and I couldn't send payment "whenever I wanted to." That was it.I lost it big time. All the intentions I had of being the professional individual I know I can be went out the window and were replaced with a raving lunatic.I said that was BS (I used the full word) and he said "don't swear."I felt like telling him had HE been decent in the first place,I wouldn't have blown up.Still no excuse, but it is what it is.I told them they should be happy they got ANYTHING in the first place, not to call me or mail me anymore,I was DONE.

Now the people who like to reply with the snarky 'pay your bills in the first place' stuff-I hope you never lose your job,get sick, have a sick child or anything else that puts people in these predicaments.Sure there are those who run up debts and don't pay them; I was married to one once.I had relatively good credit, close to perfect before life happened. After doing some researching I see they've been far from professional with others, even landing on Dateline.
I have my faults, but I can't imagine being that hateful and getting paid well for it.Karma comes around,LHR.
