I was contacted by Lifeline Industries, Inc. They were selling all kinds of household items and stating that these were better quality and therefore worth more money and the purchase of their product was also to help out the disabled, that these products were either made by or packaged by the blind and deaf, etc.

I bought 4 of the 100 clear watt lightbulbs that the seller stated to me that are guaranteed to give a minimum of five years service. Got one out replaced a lightbulb with the new lightbulb that I had purchased and within one week it was burned out.

I got out a new one (#2) that I had purchased from this company and replaced the bulb and within one week it blew out as well.

I called the company and left a detailed message and asked someone to please call me back. Two weeks went by and still no one called. I try calling again was on hold for 14 minutes and at the end of the 14 minutes they just hung up on me.

Now the price of the for lightbulbs was $28.75. I hardly think that those lightbulbs are worth more than you by in the store. I did contact the Better Business Bureau and hopefully they will help me to resolve this issue.

Buyer beware with this company! They sound very nice yet their products are not what they say they are.

Check rather than money order

AUTHOR: ChuckS - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 22, 2014

I was an office manager for Lifeline several years ago. Although I don't like what they did to me, I will try and explain the check rather than money order thing for you.

As manager, one of my greatest responsibilities was to make sure the order was verified to ensure collections once the customer received their order. Claiming that the customer will pay by money order told me that chances are, they didn't have a bank account, so collection was uncertain. Usually there is a credit reason why a person wouldn't have a bank account.

I hope this makes it clearer for anyone else who question this policy. It was WRONG of the telemarketer to tell you to say check instead of money order. That should have been done by the verifier when making sure your address was correct. The reason the telemarketer told you this is to make sure the sale went through so he could receive his commision and collections were not his aggenda

Received call from them this morning

Even though I knew it was probably a ripoff, I went ahead and let them send me some stuff, because, come on, this was for the blind and deaf!

The man I spoke with said that they would send it to me, and then I would pay by check later. He mentioned three or four times that when he transferred me to his manager (to verify the order, address, payment method) that I make sure to say that I'll pay by check, because if I said I wanted to pay by money order, then they wouldn't send it. I found it curious that they only wanted your check (i.e. your bank account number), as opposed to a money order, which is just as good as a check. Most times, I'll hear of business only accepting a money order, and not a check, just so they can be sure they're getting paid.

When I receive my package, I'm going to return it to them unopened. I'd rather do that than give them my bank account number.

Something else to know about them

My wife and I were called by this company. We picked up the phone and they asked my wife for me. I picked up the phone. We were both on the phonelines. My wife asked what this is about. They said, They were calling the area. I was on the phone so my wife decided to hang up but they taught we both hung up. I was still on the phone and I heard, the woman on the other end call my wife the B-word and then they hung up. When googled this company I saw the complaint here on this website, called them up, left a message and insisted they return our calls to appologize to us. Judging from this complaint and what we experienced unless they start appologizing to us, dont buy anything from them, dont give them any money or believe a word they tell you. We didnt really lose any money from this but I think its best this company starts doing alot of damage control. Thanks for sharing this complaint.

They don't replace Light bulbs.....I worked there and know

AUTHOR: Mart1ro - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 07, 2009

When I worked at Lifeline Industries they did not replace light bulbs. As mentioned before the company provides customers with a toll-free number that goes directly to a voicemail box and customers are given the run around.

If this company is such a "great company" to work for explain to me why there are customer complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau and why there are other unsatisfied customer complaints on rip off report? In addition you would not have had a dispute with the manager if it was such a "great place" to work for - you would still be there.

I worked there also and it was not a great place to work for. The company misrepresents it's self. The products are not the quality that the company states that it is. I had customers tell me they were dissatified with the company's products and that the products and that the products were overly priced.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

They do replace bulbs.

AUTHOR: Joyceb - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 05, 2009

I worked for this company off and on for almost 5 years. I know for a fact that once you get through to someone, they do replace the bulbs if they go out. The company is a great pkace to work. I'd still be there if not for a misunderstanding with the Manager in the Houston office. If a person can't get through on the 800 number call information and get the direct number in Mobile.

Former Lifeline employee

AUTHOR: Mart1ro - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 03, 2009

I just filed another complaint and searched to see if anyone had filed any complaints. I just found this complaint and wanted to add to it.

The company falsely misrepresents it's products and claims that the products are made by the blind or handicapped to get sales. Some of the telemarketers will even lie and tell customers that they are blind or handicapped, because they are paid commission only. If they don't sell anything they will either get fired or not get a paycheck. The company has several prices for it's lightbulbs going probably as high as $50.xx. I have even heard customer say that the light bulbs don't last very long. The company even has a toll-free number for customers to call for warranty issues. The number asks the customers to leave a message and someone will return their call. I found this out when I called a customer and the customer told me that they had warranty issues. I spoke with my supervisor and was advised to give the customer a number to call for product issues. I offered to transfer the customer to the number and realized that it was only a voicmail box. That is when I realized that the company was a rip off, in addition to other activity.
