DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!!

This gym has basically stolen money from my account, are refusing to return my calls, are refusing to honour the 3 month "credit" I was entitled to, and continue to withdraw money from my account after I cancelled my membership 1 1/2 months ago.

Not only have they taken money they weren't entitled to, now I have no way to pay my outstanding Canadian bills, as I'd put aside enough money in my Cdn accts to cover them, and LifeSport continues to take $ from that account. I have no way to transfer $ from a US acct to Cdn so this is a huge problem for me and it will likely ruin my Canadian credit rating.

I was also double-billed in JANUARY and they have still not reimbursed my money (9 months later).

I was told when I signed a 1-year membership, that I was entitled to 3 months free at the end of my one year. I noticed that they continued taking money from my account after my 1 year, so when I returned several months later to request a refund, I was told they don't do refunds, that it was up to me to come in at the end of my one year and ask that they stop billing me.

THE 3 MONTHS CREDIT IS A SCAM. Nowhere is it written that you must go in to the gym and tell them you want to stop the billing. They know that if you come in after the fact, they can tell you it's your fault, and they won't have to honour the credit. They will give you the line that "That's just how they do it" and the so-called 'manager' will shrug and say "Sorry... there's nothing I can do... that's just how it is." Scam scam scam... it's one way to make money.

I went in to cancel because I was moving out of the country... & was told about their 'clause' that you must give 30 days WRITTEN, HAND-DELIVERED notice to cancel. They will not accept a cancellation any other way. I was forced to pay an extra month even though I would receive no services and wouldn't even be in the country. They gave me some line about how it takes that long to update their systems. Lies lies lies.

I have called long distance so many times it's ridiculous, they WILL NOT call me back because of the long distance charges... not to mention I have had to incur charges because of their FRAUDULENT and CROOKED business practices. It's not just me, this has happened to two other people I know.

If you decide to join this gym, DO NOT give them your credit card or banking information. They WILL steal money from you, and hope either that you don't notice, or or that you give up after a while and have to close your accounts... In the end they will make money from you and continue signing people up for memberships based on LIES.

Don't bother trying to get your money back from the gym... according to some schmoe who answered their phone (2 St. Clair) they have let everyone go and filed for bankruptcy. I asked to speak with someone at head office (if it even exists ;) and he said there wouldn't be anyone there either.

Just so you know. Maybe you can still get $ from your bank, I haven't tried with mine yet but I doubt that will work... it wasn't the bank that took the money. *shrug*
