Hired Club Z franchise to tutor my 12-yr old son. Had to fire first tutor because she wasn't tutoring my son in accordance with the contract, and was leaving 15-20 min. earlier.

Contacted Lisa Wilson, the program director. She begged me not to cancel the tutoring service and that she would appoint a better tutor to work with my son.

The next tutor came and after tutoring, would hand me 'attendance sheets.' Accourding to the program, the sheets were only to record that the tutor was there. Although I noticed that she would only write the time she'd come in, ex. 4 p.m. as opposed to 4-5 p.m. I signed the sheets.

Toward the end of the contract, I counted 5 times when the tutor didn't come in. They were as follows; 1-her grandkid was sick, 2- I called her to reschedule because my son was ill, 3 & 4- Thanksgiving week- she didn't show up for that week's sessions, 5- she said she came and no one answered, but failed to call me to confirm. My son and my brother were home.

I cancelled the monthly tutoring because of the last instance and because she wasn't tutoring as we discussed. The tutor was supposed to teach my son: math, science, and organization. None of that happened in depth, nor to make a difference in my son's grades.

Lisa assured me that my son's grades would improve after a month. My son is failing school because he did not receive effective tutoring from Club Z.

I called Lisa and asked her to come to my home to discuss the matter. She showed up with altered attendance sheets showing that Club Z did not owe me any sessions. The forms have been written on AFTER I had signed them. Now it looks as if the tutor taught was she was supposed to and didn't miss days.

I never received any copies of the attendance sheets or any receipts after each session. The only proof I have is my own testimony, my child's, and my brother's. I want to take Club Z to small claims court. I have evidence that the forms have been altered and voice recordings.

I'm looking for other people who have been 'duped' by Club Z like I have. If you are out there, please join me in my case. The contract doesn't address anything about the tutor's attendance sheets.

NOT CLUB Z!'s Policy

AUTHOR: itsme_elo - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 22, 2010

I am a tutor for Club Z! tutoring and I love it. In the case of the altered time sheets, I believe its very possible it could happen. But I know in the office I work through they tell all clients DO NOT SIGN any incomplete timesheets. That is how the office determines how much time the tutor spent with the client. I know of several tutors who were released for falsifying their timesheets, if a client has an issue with hours they should speak to the office administrator to get it resolved. Yes, in some cases cancellations are still charged to the client, but not always. As long as client contacts the tutor and the office with sufficient time, they will not be charged. I have never charged a sick client or a client who had to go out of town, or just had something going on that day, as long as I had sufficient notice. I would just reschedule them. When I do charge for a missed session (Last second cancellations), WE (myself and the office) let the client know they are being charged for the hours being missed. And Yes Club Z! does pay me for the length of the session, unlike the previous comment. They do NOT keep all the money.

Just a reminder for parents....... Do Not blame the tutor for your child failing. A couple hours a week is not going to transform a kid. We're here to help guide your student and help them develop good study habits. This needs to be reinforced at home.

Club Z! Tutoring

AUTHOR: Organic Chemist - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 12, 2010

I have been an employee of club z tutoring for around 4 months.  During just about every interaction I have had with the owners of the franchise in my area, I have been treated rudely.  A few of the unfair policies that are in the company policies:

1. When clients cancel, the franchise owners keep all money (it is all prepaid); leaving tutors with nothing.  This means that should clients cancel often, tutors are essentially guaranteed nothing.

2.  They bill clients monthly, and hold them to their agreed sessions regardless of circumstances.  Lets say a student gets swine flu, and stops going to school.  His/her parents must pay for all the tutoring sessions agreed upon (I am fairly certain the couple that owns the club z in my area would show no remorse.)  Again, the tutor gets nothing.

In conclusion my claim is that the company adheres to an unfair business model.  I am astonished at the amount of business thy seem to be getting.  They charge $45 an hour, and pay their tutors $18.
