Never write when you're angry.

AUTHOR: dosdedos - ()

POSTED: Saturday, November 02, 2013

As someone who works in communications, I know the number 1 rule is to never write when you're angry. This person, obviously encountered a situation where he/she had unreasonable expectations. I have adopted from this animal rescue knowing full well that the animals being adopted out were pulled from often times, horrific situations. While Maria (the owner) did her best to care for the animals and improve their health, you have to go into the adoption situation knowing that the dog may have health issues. Maria had a network of people, including vets, that worked with her, doing the best they could, with limited funds.

For one person to save as many neglected and abused animals, foster them, get them veterinary care and then carefully place them with loving homes - well, the woman is a saint in my eyes and did exactly what she set out to do. I can't believe someone would be so hostile launching internet tirades across various sites against Little Forgotten Friends Rescue? The claims that the rescue was purchasing dogs from mills and reselling them for profit is ludicrous. If that were the case, they would deal in only puppies! Not elderly and special needs dogs. Maria worked to find homes for the "less desirable" dogs that "lived" horrible lives in tiny cramped cages, forced to breed time and time again, without any care all for the profit of greedy people. Really? You think she's a scam artist?

The fees you paid at the time of adoption went to cover the care of all the animals there. Considering Maria often had 10s of dogs there, do you really think $500 is a lot of money? You think that funded a lavish lifestyle? No. It paid to keep the utilities on, the dogs fed, the vets paid, it bought the meds, the beds, the wee-wee pads, the treats, the blankets, etc. It's ridiculous how cruel people are to make such outlandish claims, giving no thought to the fact that they (and this person is alone in this, as i've checked around an NO OTHER SUCH CLAIMS EXIST) are ruining someone reputation. Way to go. Your irrational behavior is a hinderance to other dogs getting adopted. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I don't know Maria personally, but dealt with her for well over a month as I was screened and scrutinized, ensuring that IF I were allowed to adopt from her, the dog would have a great life. She does her homework and does her absolute best to ensure the poor dogs she has rescued end up knowing kindness, security and the love of a good home. Once I was approved for adoption I can tell you I (then 24 and living an avg middle-class life) was happy to donate $500 between my fiance and myself, to her rescue. If we had more, we would've given more because it truly is admirable what Maria did at Little Forgotten Friends Rescue. I really, sincerely wish Ripoff Report would screen the claims made by people like this better, because it is absolutely off-base and tragically something like this can keep others from re-homing these rescue dogs.

Purchase a sick puppy from Little Forgotten Friends?

AUTHOR: NJCAPSA - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 02, 2010

If you purchased a sick puppy from this establishment and were told by LaRocca she or LFF are not responsible for any veterinary expenses, please contact NJ Consumers Against Pet Shop Abuse (njcapsa.org) and file a complaint. Consumers/adopters may indeed have rights under the NY state consumer protection law (i.e. puppy lemon law). Many of the puppies are obtained from a notorious Minnesota puppy mill as well as from other puppy mills in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas. NJCAPSA has interstate health certificates that support our allegations. Thank you.

Little Forgotten Friends Rescue saved my life

AUTHOR: Lou - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 01, 2009

We met Maria many years ago. She was a beautiful lady with a wonderful personality and a big heart. Even back then, she was helping find homes for dogs and taking in dogs people could not care for. Okay, now flash forward to the present, we found her on Facebook as someone elses friend. She was telling us about the new miniature horses she was getting. Finally she put up pictures of the adorable equines. I poked around the LFFRescue site and found Barney. Barney is a Maltese/Bishon Frise mix.

We have a 15 year old Maltese and we have always loved her personality. I always told Vanda, I wanted to wait a couple of years after she passed before we should get another pet, then I showed her Barney and told her No Way.

I couldnt stop thinking about him. Somehow, I kept thinking how happy he was going to make our home. When I got home from work, Vanda told me, I want Barney, Me, too.

Marias rescues go fast, so if you see one you like, make your move, Fast! We wrote Maria wishfully. And we were so happy when she gave us the GOOD NEWS, Barney was going to come live with us.

When we went to the rescue, we expected to see lots of sad puppies waiting to be adopted. What we saw was a giant cloud of love and joy as one of the caregivers opened the pen and all the little doggies stampeded into the enclosed pen. They were all so happy romping, playing and enjoying their surroundings. And as a single team intent on a single task they chased the miniature horses like a micro rodeo intermission show. Every one of the little dogs got along with each other, I could swear they were laughing and giggling. I almost felt bad knowing that I was taking one away from his friends, but we were there on a mission. We saw Barney; he was in the center of the ruckus unaware of the change he was going to experience.

Well now its been a month, Sage has warmed up to us and walks confidently around the neighborhood. He has been well behaved (no accidents in the house, ever), gets along with our senior Maltese lady, tries to include our cat in his games and tries to please our every demand. He sleeps in the bedroom with us in a crate and has not complained after his first night. He is growing up into a good dog, companion and best friend.

I just want to say, we are so grateful to the forces that connected us with Maria after so many years apart. We are so grateful for the fantastic work Maria has done with her cause. And we are so grateful that she found, cared for and let us adopt our little dog. We are going to give this dog a good home, lots of love and a happy life. I hope every dog at Little Forgotten Friends Rescue find a loving home, they all deserve one.

Little Forgotten Friends is wonderful and their rescue facilities are top notch. Most important is the LOVE that explodes out of that place. Every animal is well cared for, every animal is well fed, and every single animal is well loved. They all seem to have a genuine happiness.

Their volunteers were so good. They constantly clean-up after the animals. They constantly show affection, picking up a dog petting them and talking kindly to them. During feeding time they kept a sharp eye making sure everyone got their fair share. During medication time, they gave the sick dogs their medicine in an unhurried and patient manner, speaking in loving tones. I'm sure they have their favorites but they did not let the animals know. Your crew gave love evenly and generously.

Dogs and rescue in emmaculate condition at all times!

AUTHOR: Srr22 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 04, 2009

As little forgotten friends frequent volunteer groomer i have firsthand knowledge that these dogs and rescue are in emmaculate condition at all times! I volunteer a minimum of 10 hours a week over 2 days inside the rescue grooming. I show up whenever i happen to (its not like the place gets cleaned due to me coming because noone knows im coming) and whenever i happen to go it is always a clean healthy excellent enviornment for these rescue dogs. I have watched maria run up and down to all levels of her rescue night and day caring for these animals. She never does anything for herself, all of her energy goes into taking care of these dogs. she does not even profit a penny from this rescue, it all exists due to the kindness of her heart and her love of dogs. I have seen her vet bills and rescue improvement bills and such and they are through the roof. No one is being ripped off by going to little forgotten friends, they are only hurting the rescue dogs by going to a puppy store after reading this load of crap rather than donating their adoption fee to little forgotten friends.

LFFR is a wonderful rescue

AUTHOR: Dorie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 23, 2009

To all who think Maria's rescue is not a healthful environment. How could you be so dense. Do you not realize that she raises these animals to so that they can actually live a healthy life! You trust your vet so much and they pump you animal with annual vaccines for their own personal gain. Most of the stuff your vet tells you only kills your animal slowly, unless you use a holistic vet. I know for a fact that Maria's rescue is one of the best. This woman, or should I say Saint, spends every minute of her day caring for these animals. She pulls all nighters with parvo puppies to make sure they get adequate fluids and live throughout the night. She gets these puppies from puppy mills and gives thorough interviews to the people who adopt her puppies to make sure they aren't going to a bad home. If she doesn't think you do a good job, she will risk losing the money just so that dog does not go to a bad home. She follows the ways of Dr. Goldstein, who is a very well known vet and very well respected for his good works. I for my dog Benny from Maria and he is perfectly healthy. Whenever he runs into a health issue I follow up with my vet (where I work) and Maria. She is always more than willing to help. People would be stupid not to adopt from Maria's rescue. Maybe their dogs got sick when they were adopted because their new owners didn't do something right.

Little Forgotten Friends Rescue

AUTHOR: Jk908 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 23, 2009

I am outraged on the "ripoff" report. Obviously, you have a bone to pick with the rescue. I have adopted two dogs from the rescue. I have sent people to adopt from the rescue, and have never, or has anyone that I have sent has had an issue. According to the contract, if there is a problem with the dog, she takes full responsibility and places the burden on herself.
The rescue, believe it or not, is to rescue animals and take care of the sick, injured and NEVER put down the terminally ill.
It is amazing to me that reading the "terms" is not in the original author's gripe. If you think you were ripped off, let me know and I will gladly take the dog off your hands.
