Living Scriptures - religious cartoon tapes and books.

The tapes are done well but they are very short. $35.00 each for a 1/2 hour tape and coloring book.

We found that once you sign - up to have these tapes sent to your home - you are bound to purchase the entire series. The salesman did not present it this way and we were very surprised to find that we were obligated to nearly $1500 worth of tapes with no way out!

They are not worth $35 - $10 maybe and I certainly would not have intended to buy 43 sets! The best way to do this is to sign up for a few tapes & then take advantage of the specials which they offer you during the year. Otherwise, you can't reduce your original commitment, eventhough you take advantage of the special!!

The company did talk to us on the phone - however they would not
release us from the obligation - I still owe them just under $1000 and they are tying up $2500 worth of my credit.

What a Christian thing to do

AUTHOR: Don - (Canada)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 18, 2003

I really must say that I find it a bit ironic that a company that is selling scripture-based material is being so dishonest and down right unscrupulous. I believe that this company is praying (yes, this is a pun ;-)) upon the goodwill of those it seeks to sell to. I believe that the company should have the courage of its convictions and refund monies received from people who, in good faith, unwittingly signed up for a series of tapes and not just one.

It is obvious that the sales rep. did not communicate what the contract entailed. This to me is totally counter to what this company should be about. After all, who ever heard of a religeous orginization that was just in it for the money ;-).

good luck

PS Ryan, now where we the "honest" employees such as yourself when these sales were being made?

I am familiar with similar stories as this one. I happen to work for living scriptures, and would like to inform others in their defense.

The videos are generally sold for $30 a piece, but if you are a shopper you can get them for much less. You should not sign on the subscription, it is by far the worst way to go. In reality the subscription is a contract to purchase X amount of tapes. The contract states the total purchase price and the monthly payments.

The best way to purchase them is one set at a time or whenever they have promotionals. You can get them for about $10-25 a piece depending on the special.

I think they are great videos and I have yet to see scripture videos of like quality. I am sorry that this individual had a bad experience, I hope that it was the exception and not the rule.

Sincerely,

Ryan
