Lord and Taylor offered a promotion of if I spent $250 in December on thier credit card, I would recieve a coupon for $25 off my next purchase. I spent over $400 in one day and waited patiently for my promotion card. I did not receive it so I called the store who advised me to contact the credit card company.

(BTW, did you know that the store does not issue the credit card? Store person told me most people are unaware that department stores do not issue their own credit cards, it's handled by a third party bank!)

So I called the Lord and Taylor credit company who is GE Capital Retail Bank and asked them, I was told by a very nice man that it can take 2 billing cycles for those coupons to be sent. So I waited some more.

After I got my February bill, I thought that I should have gotten my coupon by then so I called the credit company again. I spoke with a nice lady who apologized and asked me to wait while she spoke to her boss. I held for a bit then she came back and said that it was sent and must have been lost in the mail. I asked could they send me another one and she apologized again and said her manager said they were unable to resend those and then told me I could get other coupons by signing up for e-mails and text alerts. Huh!?!

So I spend more than I usually would because I want to take advantage of their promotion, the post office loses the coupon and I cannt get another one?

I then asked could they give me a credit for the $25 on my account and the lady told me no. So I asked to speak to the manager and she put me on hold. When the manager came on, she was not very friendly, but she said she was sorry but there was nothing they could do to get me the promotion I qualified for. They did tell me I could call the main office of Lord and Taylor in New York but if the store already told me to call the credit card company what is the main office going to do?

It is absolutely ridiculous that there is nothing they can do. GE Capital Retail bank (GE does in fact stand for General Electric) made billions last year, and they can't give me the $25 they promised me. The only reason I did not cancel my account with them is it would affect my credit.

Think twice before taking advantage of any promotions they offer, they don't follow through!
